About pierced ears...?

My ears have been pierced for 30 and 40 years, two holes each ear, original one done in 1969, second one in 1978... and my right ear is getting infected and trying to grow closed NOW! I'm very clean, wash several times daily, and have been using peroxide and antibiotic ointment on them, as well as soaking the earrings and ears in alcohol as we were told to do back then... What else can I do? And does anyone have a suggestion as to *why* this is happening? My doctor looked at me like I was crazy when I told him and showed it to him. He has no idea. Oh yes, nearly forgot, the earrings are 14K gold, and I'm not allergic.

Look Cat sister, this is going to sound really gross, but trust me. I did this once upon a time when my ears were getting infected every single time I tried to wear earrings (gold earrings, hypoallergenic, you name it).

You are going to put a piece of meat in a sauce pan with water and let it boil. Once it is boiling, the meat will release some foam, you are going to put some of that foam on your earlobe. I swear it worked for me, it is gross and yucky but I had to do it twice and that was that, from that moment on I've never had an infection on my earlobes, plus Baby will appreciate the piece of boiled meat afterwards...

This happens to me aswell, in the 2nd piercing in both ears.

It could be allergies, to the earrings your wearing. You might not htink so, but you could be. I'm not allergic to gold, but my ears are. Piercings are more sensitive and therefore allergic reactions can occur easier.

Try using a different kind of metal in your earrings.

If not, maybe its best to let them close up?

And if you don't want them to close up, just DONT leave the earrings out, clean your ears with the earings in, and no matter how much it hurts, dont take them out, because when infected they close up really quickly.

i used to use Methylated Spirits when i got my ears done...

you could also try tea tree oil, sometimes using an ointment as it is wet could cause the infection to grow
