Actually, there is no 30 gb Classic, just 80 and 160. You're probably thinking of the ipod Video.

But yes, Apple will probably release a new version before Christmas (most likely sometime in September). It probably won't be too much better or different than the current one, but will probably have more space or be thinner or something. Keep checking the Apple website for updates.
