X-trail or Outlander...So confused.?

Need a vehicle for towing a boat - and for beach touring.

The xtrail looks like a decent car, won some good awards. However the Outlander looks to have more features in the standard vehicle.

I'm confused - they both look like they could do the job, but am I being swayed by propaganda?

Hoping for some real life opinions regarding the cons of these two vehicles.

    My sister has a 2007 X-Trail, and when she bought it, I paid out on her something fierce.

    "What a shitty pretend four wheel drive" etc etc...

    Once I actually drove it offroad, I was very impressed wth what it could do on highway tyres...

    We regularly go beach and bush bashing in it now.
