Integral of 1/[2r^2(r^2 + 1)]?

This is part of a bigger problem, but I hope you can please help me solve the integral of 1/[2r^2(r^2 + 1)], especially over the interval from negative ∞ to positive ∞. Thanks in advance!

the value of the indefinite integral is

    1/2 (-(1/r) - ArcTan[r])

evaluate this between limits to get your definite integral
