1911 question...........?

I recently bought a compensator for my 1911 (it is the kind that replaces the barrel bushing), and after I installed it, it now seems like the recoil spring is getting bunched up.

Anyone know what the problem might be?

Did the kit come with a new rod? It is common to have to shave the rod. Also did the kit come with a new spring? It is also a common requirement for a spring 2-4 lbs lighter to be used as the cycling of the slide is slowed down. I love the 1911 it is my all time favorite pistol, but work like this needs to be checked by a competent gunsmith. There are so many aftermarket parts, not all of them fit without modification.

Not enough information. What is the gun doing that makes you think the recoil spring is bunching up?
