I got here in 2004. I worked in the Clermont/ Minneola area for about half a year.

At first I was impressed with the housing bargains in Clermont (realize I'm from the nyc area), but the prices all around here bubbled up quickly. Clermont was building quickly after the time I left work there, but they didn't have an enclosed mall. They've been working on one, but I don't know if it's finished yet. It's a quieter area and the commute to Orlando isn't too easy via Hwy 50 (much traffic) but Hwy 408 toll road might be better. There's a state park and a number of lakes over there, but I have to say, that is the murkiest water I've ever seen.. has to do with tannins. Considering gators and lack of visibility, the lake water gives me the hebegeebees, but you will find boaters. Altogether it seems pretty nice over there.. you don't hear of crime like you do in Orlando.

I moved here a year ago from California. You better have a really good job line up before moving. My husband still can't find a good job and its been a year. Clermont is not a good neighbor hood we live in Hunters Creek 5 star schools and great area. You can view it on www.hunterscreek.net I think thats the website if not google Hunters Creek orlando. We 8 mile from Disney. We love it here but the jobs are really bad.

The housing market is a buyer's paradise. Many of the housing projects were already started and the prices have dropped tremendously. The schools in Lake County (or most anywhere in Florida) are sub-par. For shopping, it's Wal-Mart, Target, and strip malls. The nearest mall is 20 minutes east in West Oaks and is a small mall with a lot of vacant stores. I have a friend who lives in Groveland who wants me to move there, but I just can't make myself.

sorry i can't help with much.

but i have visited the citus tower in clemont for years. and my parents have been visiting it since 1971 since they first went to disney world and stayed in davenport just a few minutes from clermont.

i can tell you that the housing market is booming there.

there used to be just tons of orange groves but thoughout recent years they have built many many houses in the area.

but it is quite expensive and you really don't get much for the price.

the housed are like super close together. seriously you could touch the person's house next to you when standing on your property. there are no lawns just houses and houses and more houses.

and the houses aren't very big.

sorry i couldn't be more help.

    Source(s): been there 44 times since 1986.

It is pretty inexpensive, and you can get a nice place. There are strip malls out there, and good schools. It is a bit conservative out there.
