I need yall's opinion My laptop is broken.....?

and a local repair shop told me that they cannot fix it. Dell (its a Dell) told me that they will fix it for $500. But for only $700 more than that I can buy a completely new one I want. Should I fix my old laptop (which is awesome when it works) or just buy the new one? HELP

Update:

Lol, I spilled lemonade on it, so it could be a few things, probably the motherboard and/ or the cpu. Its not a clunker! it's got a core 2 duo 2ghz with 2gig ram and a 256mb graphics card, so it gets the job done.... when it goes on...

What the hell is wrong with it that it'll cost $500?!

Unless you hurled it against the wall and shattered all the parts, there shouldn't be anything in there that would cost $500 to repair. Add details and I'll comment my answer.

For $500 to fix the old clunker, I would get a new laptop FOR SURE!!!

HPs, IBMs and if you like it Macbooks are the way to go these days!
