UK: Can you get the cervical cancer shot if your not a virgin?

I know all the 13 year olds girls in the UK are now getting a jab to prevent cervical cancer at school, but I was told today you can go to your doctors and get it for free...

But I've heard from some people you can only get it if you're a virgin, but from others that you don't have to be? So I was wondering if anyone knew? Cause I'm not a virgin so I don't want to go to the doctors if it's gunna be a waste of time...obviously if no-one knows here I'll ask my doctor but hey this site is easier and quicker lol Thankss

You don't give your age, but as the vaccination program progresses in to older age groups many ex-virgins are going to be included and no one is going to ask them. The maximum data sheet age for Gardasil is actually 26 years.

You can get it if you are not a virgin. The main point about sexual activity and this vaccine is that it will not protect you if you have already been exposed to the viruses it works against; but I would still advise you to get it, especially since it is free. Hopefully you have not been exposed to those viruses yet, and even if you had, the vaccine will not hurt you.

It's more effective before you're sexually active, but it's available for women aged 13-26 in the UK.

You can have this vaccine if you are not a virgin, but this vaccine is most effective when given before one becomes sexually active. The overall aim is to make this vaccine available to all young girls. I would recommend having a chat with your GP

No you don't have to be a virgin, your doctor won't care and won't ask. Just get the jab if you want it.
