Can you give a child Claritin and Benadryl?
My 6 yr. old has started her fall allergies- full swing. I should have started the Claritin earlier because I knew this would happen. But, I just started it this week. Claritin takes while to work because it has to build up in your system for a few weeks before it really works. Has anyone had this and given their child Benadryl for their daily symptoms? She is miserable right now. I did check the ingredients and the main ones are not the same name.
Alright, people. Thanks for the concern. Both are children's medicine- Children's Claritin and Children's Benadryl. I'm giving her the amounts stated on the back of the bottles for her age. I know there are crazy people on here, but I know to not give a 6 yr. old adult medicine.

For a six year old you should get children's benadryl. The regular benadryl is meant for people over the age of 12 to take otherwise you would have to contact your child's pediatrician. If you check in any drug store, they may have other allergy medicines as well for children that would work better or faster. Hope this helps.
