Why is there so much brown on the field at McAfee Coliseum?

And where are John Madden and Al Michaels?

[I'm watching the Broncos-Raiders game.]

Update:

For those of you who missed it: my question about John and Al was to make the point that it just isn't Monday Night Football without Madden and Michaels. But thanks so much for the kind way you pointed out that they don't work for ESPN. D-uh!

They're playing on a baseball diamond. They can't fully convert the field until the baseball season ends.

I'm with you - Mike and Mike are not top talent in the booth. Ugggghhh

This is also a baseball field - what you are seeing is the dirt infield for baseball. This was very common back in the 50's and 60's. But now you don't see many shared stadiums. After baseball season is over they will cover the infield portion with turf.
