Due to the General Election popular vote didn't Gore beat Bush?
I was doing some research and and stumble across the 2000 election and here is how the numbers stack up
Gore-50,996,582 votes
Bush- 50,456,062 votes
Nader-2,858,843
It looks like he beat Bush fair and square but the Republicans sued to stop the recount in Florida and the electoral votes went to Bush. Not to mention the confusing ballot designs and voting irregularities in some of Florida counties.Plus Bush's brotherr Jeb was was governor

Yes, he won the popular vote. But the Electoral College protects the smaller states. If it were abolished, the big cities call the shots.
Some here are saying that he lost the popular vote in both elections, but this is not true. In the 2004 election, Bush had 62,039,073 votes, while Kerry only had 59,027,478 votes.

Read, "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy," by Greg Palast. Gore won on all counts and should have won with an even wider margin to get the Florida electoral votes. Gore won in Florida, but Jeb Bush and Kathleen Harris fixed the vote and prevented thousands of black voters from voting. Also, Bush's cousin who was director of news for Fox in Florida, started calling the race for Bush. Finally, it is Bush who went to the Supreme Court and had the right wing majority there hand him the election by stopping the legal vote recount.
Please look up and read the Supreme Court decision which stopped the voting. Even they know that they stopped a legal and proper recount in Florida. The USSC interfered in a state's right to conduct elections according to their constitution. Part of the written decision stated that this was NOT to set a precedent and should be viewed as a one time incident for the good of the country. THAT IS THE TRUTH BUT LOOK IT UP FOR YOURSELF.
It was a fix as was the 2004 which had the shenanigans in Ohio and Bush's corrupt DOJ and AG. This is not old news and should be repeated and repeated until this is fixed and the people responsible for this travestyl of democracy are punished.

yes he did win the popular vote.
But then again so did Hillary, so don't pick and choose when you want that to apply.
The Florida recount is the biggest fraud this country still talks about.
Gore didn't want a statewide recount. In order to have a statewide recount the vote needs to be finalized which Katherine Harris was trying to do. Gore's lawyers sued to keep the count from being finalized so they could cherry pick which districts to recount by their own standards. Obviously districts he won by a large majority.
After the supreme court said what he was doing was illegal and they finalized the vote. He conceded rather than have a statewide recount which he knew he would lose. That way the Democrats can cry foul and play the victims.
That's the truth.

Florida was breaking the law by allowing the recounts (there were several) to go on too long, and the popular vote doesn't matter; it's up to the electoral college.
Bush v. Gore was not the first time this has happened in American history. Other cases are Hayes v. Tilden, Harrison v. Cleveland, Wilson v. Taft v. Roosevelt.

Well see the election of the President does not go by the popular vote!
Republicans sued to stop the recount in Florida - yes because the Dems only wanted to re-count the votes in pro dem areas
Not to mention the confusing ballot designs and voting irregularities - Not Bushes fault

Interesting that the ballot buuterfly ballot in Florida was "confusing" in 2000, since they have used that format for decades. IF it did confuse people, then odds are that every person who got confused on voted for Bush by mistake was probably balanced by another equally confused person who voted for Gore by mistake. Why do you think all the Gore people mismarked their ballots (or do you have the low of any opinion of Gore voters?)
The Presidency is not decided by who gets the most popular votres, but the most electorial votes. When those were cast in December of 2000, Bush got the most.
Please note that Jeb Bush had no involvement in the counting or the certifying of ballots. That is done by the Secretary of State, not the govenor.

wow talk about beating a dead horse, you are absolutely right, gore did beat bush in the overall popular vote across the country but bush beat him in florida which gave him more of the electoral votes and the win. it's messed up but the system is in place (and has been for a long time, old georgy wasn't the first pres. to win that way) so that small states have more of a say. if not then the 5 biggest states would always be choosing our president. unfortunately this is one time where the system kinda screwed us

A few points:
The electoral college elects the President and VP of the United States. Each state elects its electors to the electoral college.
The popular vote means nothing. The ballot was the same for everyone in Florida. His brother as Governor means absolutely nothing to this situation.

It's as simple as this: If Bush won fare and square the last 8 years would have not been so degenerative. Basically, the best analogy is a med student who cheats on his exams to get into the operating room. Then ends up killing his patient. Bush cheated on the election, and ended up hurting the patient in this case its us the people. It's not that he is a bad guy or even had bad intentions. He is just a cheater and his performance over the last 8 years reflects just that.

you got it backwards it was gore who sued and lost to keep the counting going if gore had one and the counting could have been completed the way he wanted bush still would have won
you are absolutely correct he did receive more popular vote the bush
back to the recount the reason he lost his case was he wanted a recount only in areas where he probably would have gotten more votes that is why he lost his court case you cant pick and chose what votes u want counted and what ones u do not
lastly they have had that type of ballot where i live for my entire voting lifetime and i will say if you are too stupid to know how to use it you should not be allowed to vote
