What is the right humidity setting for a dehumidifier in a basement?

I bought a dehumidifier for my basement at my house. The only problem is I bought it used and it didn't come with a instruction manual. I have numerous guitars and other instruments down there also. What is a normal humidity setting? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

One thing you need to know is this. You do not need to remove all the humidity from the basement, If you do you will start having problems with all kinds of things like furniture falling apart. lax of moisture causes wood to contract, or shrink. You need a certain amount of moisture in the air. So do not take all the moisture out of the air not good at all.

55% works very well in my basement after two days of continuous run time to start. I also use the bucket of water in with the wash to save some money on the fill cost of your washer. It all adds up.
