Do you know of any horrific cases of child neglect, torture or murder?
I am doing research for a project at school, and would like to know of any crime cases that may not have garnered national attention. I am particularly interested in cases of child neglect, abuse, torture, and ultimately murder. The intent here in my project is to show how often this occurs, and how it has become so prevalent that it may have lost its shock value; hence, the reason I am looking for cases that are horrific in nature, yet do not attract national coverage. Thanks for your help!

Nixzmary Brown - was a 7 year old girl that was beaten, tortured and murdered by her step-father in NYC because she had eaten the step-father's yogurt. There was a history of abuse, but NY Child Services failed to see it.
Kyle Smith- 3 year old boy placed in care by ACS to mother's friend and was beaten, tortured & killed. ACS failed to find out the the family friend that they placed him in custody had her children taken away from her by Texas ACS.
Lisa Steinberg- beaten and killed by adoptive father. This most likely is not what you are looking for because of its national coverage, but it still is a major case of child neglect, abuse, torture and murder.

Look up the Texas sex club abuse case. They are just getting sentence now. Parents and guardians drugged their children with Vicodin and taught them to preform sex acts on each other and for the entertainment of the adult "swinging club." They didn't die but the abuse is quite disgusting. There was also a case in Philly where a disabled girl that needed constant care was starved and neglected to death by her care takers and the state failed to protect her by not following up on compliants. She was so badly treated that her bedsores went all the way to the bone and had magats in them. 9 people including social workers are charged in her death. There are plenty of cases just look at newspapers archives.

I was living in Colorado at the time of the JonBenet Ramsey murder. At around the same time she was killed two other little girls in the same general region were also killed. One was a three-year-old girl who had her head slammed into a wall by her mother, who had a history of mental problems. The girl wouldn't sit still while her mother was trying to fix her hair. Another was a five-year-old girl who was raped, murdered, and her body was thrown into a dumpster. A family friend committed the crime and was later convicted. I have wondered why these two girls didn't get the same sort of attention JonBenet did. I'm sure the fact that both girls were nonwhite and came from poor families had a lot to do with it.

In our hometown, this case marked the most horrific case of the epic failure in the County Children Youth & Family service. I have provided 1 link that should take you to many on the lil sweet ones case. She is still mourned locally to this day. Please check her out.
In my mind, she represents a world of suffering done at the hands of adults to children--all over the world.
