I need to know the answer to this riddle...?
John invites Michael to dinner on a Saturday. The food, a platter of roast beef sandwiches, was served from the same plate. The drink, iced tea, was served from the same pitcher. The utensils were clean, as were the glasses and plates. However, Michael died from his meal later that day. What killed him? Michael does not have an allergy to any of the materials in the food, the drinks, or the utensils.
10 AnswersJokes & Riddles1 decade agoParents of Woodstock Elementary students in Salt Lake...?
I'm moving up to the area, and I'd love to hear from parents of actual students. Is this a good school? What, if any, complaints would you have about the teachers, curriculum, safety and discipline, etc.
2 AnswersOther - Education1 decade agoAre single mothers ever considered qualified candidates to adopt?
I have a 6 year old daughter of my own, and have never been married. I always wanted 5 to 6 children of my own, and have always wanted to adopt 1 or 2 as well. I just think there are too many children in our country without parents. Now that I am pushing 30, and have had to face the possibility that I might not ever have the opportunity to be married, I have given up on my dream of having more children of my own. But, I would still love to adopt. Are single people able to adopt children?
6 AnswersParenting1 decade agoShould I get three hours of sleep, or just stay up til I have to work?
I have to work in four hours. Should I get in bed and hope to fall asleep right away, giving me three hours of sleep? Or, should I just suck it up and stay awake til I can get some sleep tomorrow afternoon? Any opinions welcome, thanks!
5 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoI almost just died, help me to prevent it from happening again.?
So, I took a drink of my soda and, as does happen from time to time, it went down the wrong tube. Well, this has happened before, and is usually no big deal, hack for awhile and your good. But, this time, I could not get any oxygen into my lungs. I was literally choking and I began to feel lightheaded. I was trying to gulp in air in between coughing fits, but nothing would go in my lungs. I don't even know how I got out of it, but at one point, I really thought I might possibly die. Then, I thought about doing the Heimlich to myself, but would that help if it was liquid? I'm sure this won't happen again, but just in cases, please help me to know what to do.

I am currently a checker at an Albertsons in Southern Utah. I will be moving to Salt Lake sometime in the beginning of 2009, and am wondering if I would be able to make more money at another store. I have years of experience, and have been making journeyman for years as well, so I know I could get hired on at journeyman. If anyone knows where to find this info, or has personal experience to share, I would appreciate it!!

6 AnswersOther - Games & Gear1 decade agoDo you know of any horrific cases of child neglect, torture or murder?
I am doing research for a project at school, and would like to know of any crime cases that may not have garnered national attention. I am particularly interested in cases of child neglect, abuse, torture, and ultimately murder. The intent here in my project is to show how often this occurs, and how it has become so prevalent that it may have lost its shock value; hence, the reason I am looking for cases that are horrific in nature, yet do not attract national coverage. Thanks for your help!
5 AnswersSociology1 decade agoTrue crime cases similar to the murder of Silvia Likens..?
I am researching crime stories that involve torture and murder. I am interested in cases that are similar to that of the Sylvia Likens murder. Sylvia Likens was tortured and abused by her care-taker, a middle-aged single mother who allowed her children, as well as children from the neighborhood, to hit, kick, burn, and cut Sylvia as a form of entertainment. I have searched the internet for similar cases, but have not found what I'm looking for. Does anyone know of any true crime cases that are similar in nature to this one?

1 AnswerOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoHow do I get my child into Kindergarten if she misses the cut-off?
My four-year-old is finishing preschool this year, and is definitely ready to move on to Kindergarten. She is already reading small words, adding numbers, etc. She is at the head of her preschool class, and her teachers have repeatedly told me that she is highly advanced in almost every area. The problem is that my daughter doesn't turn 5 until September 5th, but the cut-off date in Utah is September 1st. I have spoken with the school district as well as the principal of the elementary, and was brushed off by both. I understand that there has to be a cut-off date, and I understand the implications if exceptions are made. But, surely, there has to be a way around this. My daughter is definitely ready; physically, academically, emotionally, and socially. If anyone out there has had a similar experience and has a solution to offer, I'd be extremely appreciative!

I just bought a new living room set. My couches are chocolate brown, my drapes are a cream color with a romantic floral design in maroon and green. I want to get some accents to pull the room together. I want to have a classic french, romantic, but simple style to the room. Does anyone have any ideas?
4 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoInsurance ?
I lost my insurance through my employer because I was one shift shy of working the number of hours required to qualify. My daughter is on Medicaid, and I tried to get on that kind of insurance, but they turned me down saying that I have access to insurance through my employer, and it's not their fault I didn't work the required number of hours to qualify. I have to have insurance because I've been battling walking pneumonia for the past two months, and my doctor is worried. Are there any other options for me? I checked into student insurance at my university, and I just can't afford it. Any ideas?

1 AnswerCooking & Recipes1 decade agoTax question?
So, every year I get a pretty nice refund on my taxes. I get them done at H and R Block because I don't have the knowledge that the pros have. But, I do feel like I'm a little rushed and wonder if I'm getting the best refund possible. So, I have a question I'd like answered before I go in so that I can bring it up if the agent doesn't. In 2007, I paid a significant amount of my own money for school - in fact, I paid for two out of three semesters. Will this help me to get more money back? Should I be prepared and take in the receipts from those payments, or will it have no effect on my refund?
3 AnswersUnited States1 decade agoMedical persons, I need your help?
Would I be able to feel if I had a bloodclot in my leg? I have a weird, dull, pressing pain in my ankle that will just come and go. It's always in the same spot. When I say "come and go", I mean, it's like a slow throbbing pulse of pain. It comes on about every 20 seconds or so. Also, my foot feels a little tingly and almost numb, but very mildly so, at times. I tend to get a little hypochondriacal, so I am probably just freaking out over nothing. But, I've been having these feelings in my foot and ankle for about a week now. They came on suddenly, and I had not experienced any falls, or twists. I know I just need to go to the doctor, but my insurance doesn't kick in until next month. Thanks for your help!
