Why Are McCain 'Handlers' Afraid To Let Palin Speak Her Mind ? Why Are They Hiding & Scripting Her ?
It is disturbing that the McCain Bush political handlers are keeping Sarah Palin in a 'caccoon' while they indoctrine her with a script.
Modern Day Candidates for President or Vice Presidents have given a great deal of thought about the United States as an "ideal" and what government policy should be both domestically and in the world. Almost without exception going back to JFK, candidates for POTUS and VPOTUS have given lectures, written articles and books about their vision for America and issues that need to be addressed.
When the candidates are nominated and they run for office THEY ALL are capable of speaking on various issues and answering questions about their positions.
Correct me if I am wrong, but Sarah Palin has never written an ariticle, and essay or a book about issues facing the USA. It is becoming clear that she never gave any thought to being the VP until McCain's people cam sniffing around for somebody whose demographic appeal might be able to strip voters from Obama.
Now...I think that it is ok to pick a VP candidate that strengthens your ticket and improves your chances of winning. BUT shouldn't the candidate have some idea of what the issues are and what the Vice President's job is ?
And for gods sake, if she can't answer basic questions about important US policy, PLEASE don't sugar coat it by saying that she was a small town mayor and hockey mom.
PFO - Your arguement works if somebody is being trained to flip hamburgers at McDonalds... But giving a person a 'cliff notes' training module on US Vice President is irresponsible.

Because they are perpetrating a fraud. It's been reported that her handlers are all Bush people. However, if you are in a room being prepared. You are essentially saying that you know you're not qualified for POTUS. You are actively engage in deceiving the American people.
McSame and Palin are perpetrating this fraud; please don't let them get away with it.

"It is becoming clear that she never gave any thought to being the VP until McCain's people cam sniffing around for somebody whose demographic appeal might be able to strip voters from Obama."
Ummm, duh? All evidence points to that conclusion. During the vetting process, Palin stated she doesn't know what the VP does, and I think I saw an article that claimed that early on she didn't want the job. This is why you can't find that essay or article on what she wants America to be... it doesn't exist.
"BUT shouldn't the candidate have some idea of what the issues are and what the Vice President's job is ?"
Yes, but that can be acquired. One's ability to enact change and handle policy decisions is important, and Palin has that.
She is a newbie in the national political scene. You can come up with some legitimate criticisms about that (we sure do about Obama) but at the same time, had McCain chosen someone that was an insider, we'd here all kinds of other accusations. The choice of Palin for VP is the most unlike most previous Republican choices, and choosing someone with such a different background represents a change of the status quo for Republicans.

Because she is not fully indoctrinated, they admitted they are teaching her what they want her to say and that she is a good student.
It is quite interesting that they have held her back so long. Historically speaking this has never happened before and any thing she does say in interview after her training session will appear disingenuous and rehearsed. Palin is just another conservative candidate being controlled by the republican puppet masters.
It is absurd that McCain has to be with her at all her rallies, it shows he does not trust her. I feel like McCain is using her and I wonder why she has not been insulted by this?

The honest answer is that she serves her purpose perfectly. Give her a script and talking points, and she can do all the Stump work. She is generally pleasant to listen to, and does a damn good job directing the focus on Obama.
The McCain campaign knows this and have created the perfect environment to stop her from receiving any criticism, or even being questioned. Make every question off limits, becuase its "personal" or "sexist" or "the focus shouldnt be on Palin, it should be on "Putting Country First.""
Obama is screwed. Unfortunately.

The McCain campaign says at the same time as they could manage her with the note of everybody else receives, they receives to communicate her. i do not blame them. Why are they whining? they have made up a lot about her to air without wanting her to this point, why do they need her now? In different words, Sarah has positioned the upward push wing media in a properly deserved day out. *LOL* McCain/Palin '08

I think McCain's handlers & inner election circle went ballistic when he chose her. He'd only met her once very briefly, but he felt he had to pick a woman to have a chance of winning the election. Now they are trying to figure out what to do with her. They write everything that comes out of her mouth, but what's going to happen when she doesn't have a script? Did you notice that she wasn't on ANY of the talk show circuits, especially on Sunday. I think she's going to be a lose cannon & his campaign is just sweating it out & think the longer they hide her the more everyone will back off her. But you see the opposite is happening. The press is even trying to force Oprah to interview her-go figure. Let the press do the dirty work & be the bad guys! Like she said, "I'm just a soccer mom".

The people who listen to this Republican drivel are sheep, pure and simple, sheep that believe everything the Karl Rove speeches tell them.
Rove has admitted he's been working with Palin since she accepted the VP nomination. Now you'll see old style Republican hatred being spewed on TV, radio, and everywhere else. The Conservatives know, and have admitted, they don't want to talk issues. Why aren't Republican voters outraged about that? Don't they care their candidate doesn't give a crap about issues? If they cared, they'd tell him about it.
