Do you think there'll be danger conducting experiments with the new LHC (Large Hadron Collider)?
There are speculations that the Large Hadron Collider might cause a microscopic black hole that could consume the Earth. What are your thoughts?
I've read some answers below.
Although many of you suggest that the science experiment is perfectly safe, however, smashing particles together at nearly the speed of light isn't exactly very safe, especially given that our current level of technology is not nearly advanced enough to contain the energy of the collisions.

YOO-HOO!!!... there's several OTHER colliders in business right now and that have been for YEARS..... have you even NOTICED?????.. noooooo.....
we're saying it's safe because all the other experiments in the past have done pretty darned good , safety wise... we ain't dead yet, are we?......
and how can you say "smashing particle together at nearly the speed of light isn't exactly very safe".... you don't even know HOW it's DONE!!!..... learn something about it and then come back and we'll discuss this again.... k?

ok i theory yes very safe but hawking's radiation hasnt been proven yet so maybe it will kep on sucking. and also the experiment has started but no particles have collided that will take months. So really we have a bit of time to find out if there is going to be a black hole.

IGNORANTLY: Yes, the world will end, lava will spurt everywhere! The black hole will suck the Earth up, the moon will be sucked in after. Venus and Mars will follow alon with all the planets, then the Sun will be drained of its Hydrogen and burn out. The galaxy will start to lose stars and systems. HUMANS will be the ones responsible!
REALISTICALLY: No, its just a science experiment!

i'm excited and think of the LHC is astounding. think of whilst they arrive across a sparkling length by way of employing that component. Einstein could have crapped his pants if he have been given his arms on it.

true me, our technology is capable of containing that blow. or else they wouldn't even dare to start the machine. Those scientist working over there, they are experienced and more knowledgeable than us. they know what they are doing or else they wouldn't dare to do it. this is reality, not in the movie where those scientist are crazy enough to try experiment that would destroy the world.

NO NO NO and it is already ancient history. And guess what, we are all still alive and asking this (*&*%&^%&^) question!
