I am looking for a good Mini Dachshund breeder. Does anyone know of any. NO PUPPY MILLS!?
I will only do business with a small breader, home raised. I will have to see the home and the parents before I am interested. I just want a good breader of my favorite little dogs. Male or female makes no diffferance.
Yes, I am only looking for good dogs. I do not want to support bad breeders. I already own 2 standard Dachshunds and really an looking for a place to get a mini in the fiture. I love my little dogs almost as much as my children, sorry to admit that but at least the pups don't tell you they hate you. Thanks for all the advice. I will use it all.

Try the Dachshund Club of America. They should be able to recommend someone.
EDIT: Meggie, you do not need a kennel to be a good breeder. Many of us that show and are members in good standing with the national club are small breeders that raise our dogs in the home.
The only thing is that a good breeder probably will not have the male, but if he is nearby you should be able to meet him, or at least they will have a picture of him.

Actually the type of breeder you are talking about, essentially the mom and pop ignorant back yard greeder, are the top contributor to the millions of unwanted dogs in the world each year - like over 90% of the millions come from this type of byber.
What you likely really want, if you are wanting to be a responsible puppy procurer, is a responsible, knowledgeable breeder of your breed. You will find that if someone has a female and is breeding it to a convenient male in their home or nearby, that these are big red flags of ignorant bybers. A responsible breeder will spare no expense finding the BEST possible mate for their female - and that is rarely if ever the convenient male in the back yard. The responsible breeder should be willing and capable of showing you everything about the male and why they decided upon that particular mate for there fully health, temperament and structurally evaluated female. They should have the knowledge and honesty to tell you ALL about the breed, the warts as well as the good stuff. Contact the parent club and see about getting some breeder referrals of breeders that will help mentor you and direct you to good breeders. Good breeders do not have litters every other month or so -- they have rare litters and have waiting lists for good, pre-screened suitable homes. You can take the time that you will be awaiting a good litter learning about the breed. Good luck and thanks for being a responsible purchaser instead of the typical irresponsible one that supports through purchase irresponsible back yard greeders and puppy millers.

Why not go to a local dog show? That way you can see some of the Dachshunds, meet the handlers (and in some cases, the breeders), and contact from there. I'm not sure where you live so I can't tell you what is around you, but you should be able to find one via Google.

Would you consider a Dachshund Rescue? Most breeders aren't going to have both parents.

Backyard breeders like the one you are looking for are no better than puppymills.
