I think you are referring to cryptozoology. It is more of a pseudo-science then anything else. I remember I wanted to get involved in such a thing when I was high school but honestly there just isn't really a calling for a position like this. Would you pay someone to look for something that likely doesn't even exist all day? What you can do though if this interests you is go into zoology or biology and get a career doing such. You may find that there will be some opportunities to get involved with cryptozoological things down the line. Just don't base a whole career on this.
