Is it now okay to break the law in the name of GW?

http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/climate-c...

Even James Hansen was there. He didn't argue that the crew of 6 was innocent, that they hadn't vandalized the power station, just that the threat of GW is so great that breaking the law in the name of "fighting AGW" is surely forgivable. Does this seem ridiculous to anyone else?

And a whole flock flew over the coo-coo nest. The nuts are running things and sane people are being tossed in the nut house. Oh what the world has come to in so few years,

The solution is simple. If it is okay to damage coal power stations because they cause global warming. Just shut down all the coal power stations in England until the law is changed. I suspect the majority of the people will support such a change after 24 hours without power. When reason fails, unreasonableness is the best solution.

This is beyond ridiculous! This is absolutely insane! The above answers made great points, so where would this stop? Court rulings like this one set a precedent and new cases can claim the same reasons as their defense. I hope the coal company can appeal and get this ruling overturned. If not I see havoc coming of the worst kind.

No it's not okay and this is sad day for civilization, those who vandalized are criminals pure and simple. The court should its cowardice by not convicting these criminals and AGW proponents should who they truly are.

Hansen should be fired he is no friend of the earth or humanity he is a self absorbed person who has lost sense of the world around him.

All of the Laws are easy to violate if no-one is going to notice you, you can break as many as you like!

Jim Hansen should be fired immediately. He is supposed to be a scientist, not an activist. His head should roll (it should have rolled back when he declared oil execs as criminals).

    It appears so--

This is a very troubling court case. It appears it is now OK to destroy private property operating in a legal fashion. I would challenge them to try this tactic here in TEXAS.

No one is safe, now. If they can legally vandalize coal plants, how about cars? Can they legally kill me for driving? This is way beyond insane.
