Catholics, Hey Marty...don't you believe this anymore?
Catholics- your church fathers wrote in the past, re: Mary:
So that to have recourse to Mary is the same thing as to find the grace of God. Listen, explains St. Bonaventure on these words: Listen, all you who desire the kingdom of God, honor the Blessed Virgin Mary, and you will find life and eternal salvation"
St. Bernadine of Sienna says that if God did not destroy man after his first sin, it was on account of his singular love for this holy Virgin, who was destined to be born of this race. And the saint adds, that he has no doubt but that all the mercies granted by God under the old dispensation were granted only in consideration of this most blessed Lady.
Sounds like you all have lost some of that old time devotion to her!
Isn't this taught in church anymore?

Catholics love the Virgin Mary. I don't understand where you are coming from when you say that Catholics have forgotten about her. Behind the Holy Trinity, the Virgin Mary is the most venerated figure in all of Catholicism. Two of Catholcisms biggest feast days are in celebration of Mary: the Assumption of Mary and the Immaculate Conception.

I don't know what catholics you know but I can tell you that The Blessed Mother is a hugely important part of the catholic church and we have been taught to honor her and hold her up in our hearts. Hail Mary's are regular part of every service and behind the lord himself and his son Jesus (as it should be) their is not a figure more dear to us than the virgin mother.

You know, it's interesting. Back at anti-Catholic headquarters, the prevailing "wisdom" is that Catholics 'worship Mary. This, of course, it a fallacy.
Now, you come along and claim Catholics are not devoted enough to Mary. . . . . . . Perhaps you should take your claim back to anti-Catholic headquarters, come to a consensus with the other anti-Catholics, and then come back and bother us Catholics.

I think the Church has been trying to downplay Mary for some time. She has pretty much taken on the role of a Female Goddess, and this doesn't sit well with some Church fathers.

I grew up Catholic but didn't catch that lesson.
Although, there is a heretical movement (deemed so by the Pope) claiming that Mary is co-redemptrix.

Nobody listens to the voices of the saints anymore.
They are faint echoes of a past long dead.
