How does ESPN justify having a female announce a college football game?

I was watching Michigan State U and a Florida team (?) on ESPN2 this AM, some female named Robin had made four erroneous calls in the first half, each which I picked up easily on the screen. A male announcer corrected her after each ! Then, with 15 seconds to go in the half, in a driving rain, She says Florida should punt-even though they had the ball on MSU's 35 yard line !!! The male announcer never corrected her.

Then, I watched the Half Time Scoreboard show, some blond with her hair in a pony tail was reading prompt cards. I'm sorry-women do not have a clue about football.

Maybe I'm being sexist-if so, tell me I am please !

Not all women are totally clueless when it comes to football. There are some female football fans who probably know more than male football fans. The women you mentioned apparently don't fit into that category.

It's fine if you don't know about football or you're trying to learn more about it...but for God's sake don't practice by making an idiot out of yourself on national television.

I mean...I've been trying to learn more about basketball cause it's a sport I'd really like to appreciate. But you don't see me wanting to announce any games! lol.

So, yeah, some women are clueless about football. But some (including myself) aren't. Just cause you've seen some women who apparently don't know much about it, don't group ALL women into that category.

girls just wanna have fun and get paid for it...tooo!

Regardless if its a woman or a man making stupid calls, then they should not be doing the announcing. The fact that it just so happens to be woman making stupid calls and you making that dis-stink-shun is stereo typing.

There is this local sports broadcaster in the bay area that continuous to make stupid calls and gets the players names wrong all the time, he is still broadcasting after 5yrs and he totally sucks. Whenever he calls a game, I turn down the sound of the TV broadcast and listen to the radio. The only problem is that the radio is real live and the TV has a delay, so you hear what happens before it happens on the TV.

I hate watching games on ESPN 2 in the AM. SHe has been doing it for years and the sound of her voice pisses me off. As a Nebraska fan, I have been fortunate that we have never had her announce our games.. she sucks. As for sideline reporter Erin Andrews, she can be on our sidelines anytime! She's incredible...

Unfortunately, the few stupid ones ruin it for the rest of us. There is nothing wrong with a woman being a commentator but I do agree that she does need to know what she's talking about. Don't convince yourself that all women are stupid when it comes to football or any sport. Some of us would surprise you at what we know.

Why not people who have played or coached football to announce football? That makes too much sense compared to polictical correctness.

The men that do the hiring for theses jobs, and the men who watch these games want above all, to see an attractive woman. Her credentials are secondary. Another example are cheerleaders. None are fat and ugly. It's all very shallow.

Yes, my Rat Fink friend, you are being sexist. I don't watch football, but I defy you to out do me in professional basketball.

There are plenty of announcers that are male who are terrible announcers. If she's bad, then she's bad. But not because she's a female. The time has long past for that.

Yes, you're being sexist. I don't see a problem with a female announcing. It pisses me off how people think us women are so stupid.
