1)"converted into atheist" some people didnt 'convert'

    2) Some people never had a religion

    3) I was christian

    4) I have studied Islam and based on its practices etc I find it a very nice religion.. however the constant battles between the shi'ites and sunni.. (sp?) threw me.

    5) I haven't just studied one religion and assumed it was wrong, I have studied alot of polytheistic and monotheistic religions, and I have assumed they were wrong.

First, Islam is not creditable in any respect. Sorry, but even from a cursory knowledge of its claims it is blatant that it is a completely made up religion. A major example is it trying to shirt tail off of Christianity without understanding that Christianity excludes other beliefs.

As far as a god in general is concerned, there simply is not and never has been any objective, empirical evidence that there is a god or gods. Muslims, like Christians and others, try to stretch their scriptures to show that their scripture supports science, but only gullible fools can not see the problems with that.

Try this, point out on a globe where the sun sets into a mud puddle or where Allah got the sperm and blood to make a human and then we'll talk. By the way, simply stating that Allah created the blood and sperm or that he took them from himself has sever implications that disprove his existence.

    Edit:

By the way, there is less archeological support for Islam's claims than there is for Hebrew or Christian, which puts it into the negatives.

I was catholic, no I did not look into Islam or any other religions.

The reason I abandoned Christianity wasn't necessarily specific to Christianity itself but the obvious shortcomings of religion in general.

All religions have fantastic tales of magic and miracles, stories of an afterlife. These are all man made ideas. Man created these things to explain their world at a time when they didn't have an understanding of science.

Religion has since been taken over by powerful forces bent on world domination and I don't want anything to do with any of it.

I'm fully aware of Islam. In fact, I'm taking a class on it right now. However, I have no interest in converting, "fastest growing religion" or not. As a matter of fact, after becoming an atheist, I went with Paganism as my new religion, and I am quite happy with it.

i was a christian. the logical argument is that there is no evidence of a diety and therefore no reason to believe in one. Studying Islam will not change the raw fact that there is no proof of God in day-to-day life that i find satisfactory. I would have to find proof in God before I would consider believing a religion. I have not studied too much into Islam, but it doesn't matter. Religion makes claims about God; it doesn't prove God exists (if it did, then there wouldn't be much of a controversy).

I did not "convert into an atheist" I embraced free thought.

I was born a Protestant and until the age of 18 attended Church.

I have studied and observed other religions and Faiths. Just because I'm an atheist doesn't mean that I have to be ignorant.

I have read the bible and find it to be a fair historical document. but it can and is interpreted by Zealots to justify too many injustices in this world. To base ones life on the writings of one single document is the height of ignorance.

I believe that it is human nature to want to believe in something. It just doesn't have to be God.

I do not blaspheme against religion. I just choose to embrace alternatives. Remember; Christianity is one of the newest religions on Earth (not the only one). Who knows what mankind will embrace in another 2000 years.

And I am not without faith. I have faith in the goodness and mercy of my fellow man.

And lastly, a true christian does not care what Faith that you embrace. A true Christian is tolerant and forgiving.

Source(s): Hmmmmmm?!? Thumbs down. Did I offend an Atheist or a Zealot?

I was a Christian before I became an atheist.

I gave up on religion because none of it makes any sense, there is no real proof and all it seems to do is cause disagreements and fighting between different societies.

I've always been an atheist. I've never belonged to a religion, not even when I was a kid.

I've never seen any evidence for the existence of any god or the truth of any religion, so I've never converted to one.

I was never religious. Ever. I was taken to sunday school a couple of times, but even as a child I thought "What a load of crud." Islam? Why would I know stuff about islam. Well, that's me.

    Over and out.

I was a Christian before I became an atheist.

I left because of a glaring lack of evidence to support that any of the supernatural things discussed in the Bible happened, existed, or continue to exist.

I have personally read about the history of Islam and am appalled by it. I would not consider joining such a faith.
