What is the big deal of imports?

I Drive Chrysler. Had others and to me they are all the same. 210K on a 4 cyl Dakota. 200K on a Caravan. That Caravan left my wife stranded once. Broken CV shaft at 160k. Is that Chryslers fault NO.Current Dakota has 135K. Also an 07 Wrangler and has never had warrenty work. I look on here and see questions with all makes. Import or domestic. Brother had an 05 Kia and a brake line rusted throu. That is unexeptable thou.

I dont think you can say a make is crappy if at 125k it needs a belt, or a starter. or a fuel pump/. You cant expect any manufacturer to make a car with no problems at 200k There is just too many systems to go wrong. I think at some point it comes down to the owner.

Know a guy who always bought new Fords every 3 to 4 years. He says he NEVER changes the oil...He would trade it. Would you want his one owner trade? When that engine smokes at 70k, Is it Fords fault? NO.

I totally think imports are over rated.. Besides. Why would you want the profits going into another countiy's economy?. Made in USA is one thing. Your Honda might be made here, But the profits dont stay here. My Jeep is made, designed, and owned here by ur neigbors. If I have to put an O2 sensor on at 60k....so what. Yeah that whole buy USA is an old argument. But give me a GM, FORD or Chrysler any day.

I agree with your thoughts.I've driven Chryslers for years and never had a problem of any sort.We also have had several imports at the same time which have been reliable too.The Asian imports are nice but they are built from cheap lightweight materials, unlike the American vehicles.Imports are over rated and domestics are under rated.I believe there is a stigma about American union workers doing a bad job that simply isn't true.

The GM, Ford and Chrysler all have parts that are made in Japan and everywhere else in the world. There are many import brands being made in USA by Americans. The economies of the world are very intertwined now and would be impossible to separate without massive depressions where people would starve.

i have news for you. even though you buy a gm, ford or chrysler, the parts are made overseas. all they have is the american name. look at any part on your car and see where it,s made at. it might say usa but the material comes from foreign countries.i have a 1988 olds. delta 88 and i bought parts before that said made in china. it only carries the american name that,s all. if you want a true american car or truck you have to go back into the 50s and 60s.

Nothing wrong with domestic cars nowadays. Jap cars are know for their reliability because of the late 70's, 80's, and early 90's when American cars were CRAP. You can thank emission standards for that.
