I'm 17 weeks pregnant and I think I may be anemic?
I'd rather get some opinions from other people before going to the dr's tomorrow...
So, I'm 17 weeks pregnant on my 1st and think I may be anemic. I've been having symptoms for the past 2-3 weeks. The symptoms I have so far are
Tired/No energy
Palpitations
Headaches
Dizziness
Poor sleep
And every now and then I get a metallic taste in my mouth
I'm still taking folic acid, and try to eat as many fresh fruits and veggies as I can. Meat is a bit of a problem as I very rarely want to eat it. I've tried taking pregnacare to see if that helps but is just making me sick!
I had bloods taken when I was 12 weeks, and my Ferritin levels came back as 29.0.
I'm going to go to the dr's tomorrow, but I hate going if it can be avoided! Do you think I may be anemic?
Thanks in advance!

First congrats on your pregnancy! Second I am a mother of two and I have been anemic for years.. before pregnancy, during and after. So your symptoms are symptoms of anemia and pregnancy, the only way to find out is your blood results. Please make sure to take care of yourself , with my first pregnancy all was well.. for my second I had to have a blood transfusion after the delivery. It is a very serious thing.
I wish you all the luck!

I would definitely check with your doctor, but since you are not wanting to eat meat you might be low on protein. I know that when I am low on protein I get headaches and get extremely dizzy. Everything else just sounds like being pregnant. Check with your doctor because they will know best whether or not there is something wrong. Good luck.

It could be something really serious. Even if you get a great answer on the internet DON'T RISK your health and especially your babies health on a self diagnosis. GET CHECKED OUT. If your doctor makes you that uncomfortable, maybe you should find a better doctor or look into getting a mid wife or doula to help you through your pregnancy.

Always take test and do as your doctor says, especially when pregnant. I too was slightly anemic and they told me to increase food rich in iron. green leafy veggies, red meat and pb are just a few. take your prenatal vit.
