  • My 6 week old baby slept all day AND all night...?

Usually at night my daughter goes to bed at 9pm, wakes up three times for feeds, is then awake by 8:30 and has a nap for a few hours at around 1pm. Last night she slept from 9pm - 6am, had a feed and went back to sleep and has continued to do this all day! I'm grateful that she slept all night, but I'm wondering if anyone elses babies did this and if I need to be concerned at all? She's usually a very alert baby so it's a bit out of character!

    Thanks in advance :D

  • 34 Weeks pregnant - I'm feeling dizzy and my blood pressure is higher than normal. Should I be worried? ?

I'm 34 weeks 2 days pregnant and have been feeling dizzy for the past week or 2. I randomly checked my BP today and it was 143/80. I haven't seen my midwife in the past few weeks so haven't had it checked, but at every antenatal visit my blood pressure has been 110/70. I'm due to see her again in a few days but, am not sure if I should wait. I can call my local birthing centre and get seen tonight but, I'd hate to feel like I'm wasting anyones time. Any advice you could give me would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!

  • My Great Grandmother is hallucinating...?

I'm very concerned about my Great Grandmother. She is 95 years old and 3 months ago it was decided that she needed to go into a home, where she has around the clock care. She agreed to this as she felt she needed it too. Her memory is still great and has no problems apart from a few physical ailments such as arthritis etc.

For the past 2 months she seems to have lost interest in lots of things. She wont go outside, wont play any games, read or watch tv. She used to enjoy getting the paper every Monday when we went to visit, but has told us not to bother as she wont read it. She doesn't seem to be her self. We kind of put it down to her maybe getting older and not wanting to see some of the awful things on the news or reading about terrible things in the paper, but after a visit on Monday she has us very worried.

She has it in her head that the home that she's in is surrounded by vans and that there are spies in the building keeping an eye on her. She is convinced that there are helicopters circling the building waiting to send people in to take her away. She told us that her daughter has been on TV and has been sending out appeals to her to make sure she stays hidden and that the people that work in the home are there to make sure she doesn't escape. We were warned that she will be taken away by this coming Monday and that she will be stripped of all her clothes and will have her head shaved. Our whole family is in grave danger. As you can imagine, we are really really concerned for her!

We thought that meds for a water infection she was on a couple of weeks ago were the cause, but now aren't so sure. Last night she was trying to escape from the 'spies' and fell from her bed and cut her head open. We have asked for someone to assess her and we're still waiting on that. I've looked up symptoms of dementia online and she doesn't seem to fit the bill for that. Does anyone have any experience with anything remotely similar?

I appreciate any advice or info you guys can offer :)

Sincere and serious answers only please!

  • What is a safe amount of iron and vitamin b12 to take when pregnant?

I'm 17 weeks pregnant and want to see if taking an iron and vitamin b12 supplement will make me feel a little better. I've tried taking things like pregnacare, but they make me sick so I figure I may be better off taking supplements.

What is a safe amount of each of these for me to take?

    Thanks in advance!

  • I'm 17 weeks pregnant and I think I may be anemic?

I'd rather get some opinions from other people before going to the dr's tomorrow...

So, I'm 17 weeks pregnant on my 1st and think I may be anemic. I've been having symptoms for the past 2-3 weeks. The symptoms I have so far are

    Tired/No energy

    Palpitations

    Headaches

    Dizziness

    Poor sleep

And every now and then I get a metallic taste in my mouth

I'm still taking folic acid, and try to eat as many fresh fruits and veggies as I can. Meat is a bit of a problem as I very rarely want to eat it. I've tried taking pregnacare to see if that helps but is just making me sick!

I had bloods taken when I was 12 weeks, and my Ferritin levels came back as 29.0.

I'm going to go to the dr's tomorrow, but I hate going if it can be avoided! Do you think I may be anemic?

    Thanks in advance!

  • I'm 16 wks pregnant and think I may have been around someone that has measles....?

I went to visit my dad today and found out my step brother has a rash. Its nor bright red, but is slightly raised. It looks a little like millions of pin pricks on his back, stomach and the tops of his legs. A few days ago, he had a few temperature but still seemed fine. He went to the Dr's today and they told his mother that the rash was viral. She also warned her to keep him away from pregnant women. The Dr was convinced the rash was not chicken pox or measles because he was not ill enough. The Dr found out that he hasn't had his MMR yet. My questions are...

If it is measles, will my unborn baby be ok? And does anyone have any idea on what the rash could be? Apart from saying it's viral the Dr didn't say much else!

    Thanks in Advance!

  • 14 wks pg. Started feeling movements at 12 wks, but now there are hardly any. I'm a little worried!?

When I was roughly 12 weeks I started to feel the little movements. They felt kind of like popcorn, or a butterfly. They seemed to be happening at the same time roughly every day. For the last week I've barely felt them at all. I've felt one or two bigger movements, sort of like somethings pushing from the inside, but I'm not sure if it's the baby or not. It doesn't happen very often. Maybe like once every couple of days.

What I want to know is, do you think it could be my baby moving? How far along were you before you felt yours move? What did it feel like for you when your baby started moving? How often do you feel it move?

    Thanks in advance :)

The lady that did my scan did press quite hard. Is this why my tummy hurts? Has it happened to anyone else?

  • When did you start to feel your 1st baby's first movements?

I've been feeling movements now for the past 2-3 days. It's always around the same time of day and its always in the same sort of place. It's not gas as I know what that feels like. What I'm getting feels kind of like popcorn. It's like nothing I've ever felt before. It feels weird, but in a good way. I wanted to know how far gone you guys were when you felt movements and what it felt like for you :)

  • I'm confused about my due date.

The 1st day of my last period was the 21st may 2008 and my conception date is roughly the 4th june 2008. I've used these dates to work out my due date and some websites say I'm due on the 25th of feb and others say I'm due on the 28th. There is also some confusion with how far along I am... once again some websites are saying I'm 11 week and some are saying I'm 12 weeks. I know I wont know for sure how far along I am until I have my scan, but I don't get mine for another 2 weeks. Can anyone tell me for sure when they think I'm due and how far along I am??

    Thanks in advance :)

  • My 7 week old kitten fell down a 10ft drop. Will he be ok?

We have this super active, playful kitten. He's very curious and is always exploring and getting himself in to trouble. He follows me everywhere and whilst I was upstairs he decided he had to come up too. At the top of our stairs there is a small gap maybe 10cm high that he loves to look over and watch to see if anyones coming. Well tonight, he fell down it. He's not playful at all, hes moving, but not very much and he yelps if my partner and I go anywhere near him. He also seems to be swaying back and forth a lot, kind of like he's giddy!?!?! He's a huge eater and will finish the food in our other cats bowl after eating his, but now he has no appetite. I'm really worried about him. We've called the vets but they've just said to leave him until the morning and if he's still the same to bring him in. I'm a bit concerned about leaving it until the morning. Should I be? Do you think he'll be fine?

I'd appreciate any help you guys could give me on this one!

    Thanks a million in advance!!!

  • I'm 9 weeks pregnant and have developed a bad eating habit?

Theres not much that I seem to want to eat. The thought of eating some things makes me want to gag. I'm finding that I'm letting myself get so hungry I throw up. Its not something I'm doing purposely and I'm trying to stop it, but its so hard when theres hardly anything I can face eating.

Its not morning sickness, I've had that phase and its passed (thank God) and I do try and eat, but more often than not its too late and 2 minutes later it comes back up. I'd like to know if anyone else has had something similar happen and how they stopped it and if you think it's worth going to see my GP? Thanks in advance!

  • why am i so tired?

For the past week or so I've been having trouble stying awake during the day. I get roughly between 7 and 8 hours sleep a night, eat plenty of fresh fruits and veggies, am relatively healthy and am quite active. Apart from the tiredness I feel ok within myself. I don't think it's due to low sugar or a lack of iron. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Maybe a lack of other vitamins? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • so today my fiance and i almost died?

this happened today (in my fiances words)

So, i was driving to newport today, to see my parents, and my car randomly burst into plumes of smoke

I was going around a roundabout, and the engine decided to rev itself to full throttle, OVER rev, produce copius amounts of smoke, then cut out.

I got the engine started, the smoke started again, so i took the key out of the ignition, and the car decided to become possessed by all things evil, and keep revving even though there was no power going to engine at all!

at this point there was 2 options... the engine cuts out, and screws up never to be used again

    OR

the engine explodes, kills a few people, and is never to be used again.

Luckily for us, it was option a...

what i want to know is... wtf caused this?

its an 02 clio. the engine was 'supposedly' replaced about 4 months ago because a piston went and it sounds to me as though a piston has caused this problem.

does anyone have any light they can shed?

    thanks in advance =)

  • i keep getting a similar dream over and over?

its basically about me and my fiance every time. the only thing that changes is the setting. it starts out with us going somewhere or doing something and we're really happy, but some girl always comes along and i have to fight with her over my fiance and i never win. he always says something along the lines of 'i never really loved you, it was always her!' i know its only a dream and i know my fiance would never do anything like this, i'm just a little confused as to why i get these dreams. i seem to get them every 3 or 4 days.

does anyone else get the same kind of dreams?
