34 Weeks pregnant - I'm feeling dizzy and my blood pressure is higher than normal. Should I be worried? ?
I'm 34 weeks 2 days pregnant and have been feeling dizzy for the past week or 2. I randomly checked my BP today and it was 143/80. I haven't seen my midwife in the past few weeks so haven't had it checked, but at every antenatal visit my blood pressure has been 110/70. I'm due to see her again in a few days but, am not sure if I should wait. I can call my local birthing centre and get seen tonight but, I'd hate to feel like I'm wasting anyones time. Any advice you could give me would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

I shouldn't worry yourself because that will automatically send your blood pressure higher! Your blood pressure has jumped a little bit from what it normally is and I would probably go and get a second opinion at the clinic just to reassure yourself.
The number that would usually be of most concern is the bottom (lower) figure. 140/90 is the magic number to be considered as "high" (i was admitted to hospital when it went over this) The high number can be high due to feeling slightly stressed or worried or even if you've had a busy day. The bottom figure you can't really change. Even though 80 is usually fine at this stage in pregnancy it is a bit of a rise to what you usually have so i would get it checked.
Dizzy spells are common and was one of my symptoms before i was taken into hospital (preeclamsia) My blood pressure varied between 125/80 and as high as 170/120 (the day before i was induced). If its started going a little higher in such a short space of time it could easy shoot up. I would just go and have it checked. If its still 143/80 they will prob just keep an eye on it as its not toooo high but you should really be checking it at least every week at this stage (every day if you are concerned)
High blood pressure is dangerous in pregnancy so please don't worry about "wasting someones time". I was made to feel like i was being over the top because i was worried about my blood pressure and in the end I was admitted to hosp, on medication and induced 2 weeks early - your intuition is usually good so just run with it. Sure if you go and its still well under 90 (bottom figure) then you can sleep easy and then at least that will keep your stress levels down and also your systolic rate down (top number) - which might make you feel strange if you are stressed and it stays high.
Just take a few deep breaths and relax, try not to stress as it really is not too high right now - but do go and get yourself checked just to be sure (it could easily be a random high reading :-) ...but better to be sure!)
Good luck hun and don't worry - it'll be fine :-) Any questions feel free to email me!

Your blood pressure looks ok. It is raised a little from before but it is not high! If you are worried make an appointment with your GP or midwife to check your blood pressure and your urine but you really should not be checking your own blood pressure if you don't know exactly what it means! It will only worry you!

The diziness is a side effect of the high blood pressure. Do you have any of the following symptoms; severe pain under the ribs, sudden swelling of the face and hands, lights flashing before eyes (migraine-like)? If so, then go see your gp or midwife tomorrow. If not, then it should be able to wait until your next midwife visit (if it's soon), or you could at least call your midwife tomorrow and see if she wants to see you to check?

if your that worried then ring to put your mind to rest because you will be on the edge for the next few days until you see your midwife. But 143/80 is in the normal blood pressure bracket for a pregnant woman. My blood pressure was the opposite because mine was 140/90 then it dropped to 99/70 and my midwife said that was fine so i wouldn't be worried

I only felt unwell when I went to the midwife unit to get checked. Turned out I had something wrong with my liver.
They won't mind checking you over. I'd call. Better safe than sorry.

You need to call whatever medical care person you are seeing during this pregnancy as you have high blood pressure and it can be very dangerous. Good luck!

What you're describing sounds like a panic attack, but you need to see a doctor to get an EKG and rule out a more serious cause.

so what if theres nothing wrong and you feel your wasting peoples time this is yours and your babies life at risk go and get it checked out and stop being silly thats what midwives are there for if you have high bp it could be a sign of pre eclampsia and you can die from it so go and get checked out
