Question about OPK's and surges?

I have just started testing this month using OPK strips. I had a positive LH surge yesterday (tested twice and both were positive), but today, I tested out of curiosity and the test came back negative (no LH surge detected). Does that sound right? I am new to this (trying to conceive and testing etc.). Any advice is helpful. Thank you in advance.

Sounds right to me. I got a positive yesterday and a negative today as well. That means that you ovulated (or will ovulate) today! I hope you got lots of sex in yesterday and today :-)

  • Yes, you LH surge only lasts from 8-12 hours, some people have a surge for up to 5 days, though it is rare. Since you got your LH surge yesterday you are probably ovulating today or tomorrow. Your LH surge is detected when you are about to ovulate (within the next 12-36 hrs).

  • Sounds perfect. I also had my positive OPK yesterday, but today I am still testing to make sure how long it lasts and I've gotten positives thus far. OPKs will stay positive for about a 24 hour window...just depends on when you catch it.

Hopefully, you BD'ed last night....and make sure you BD tonight too!! Best of luck to you!!

    yeah, sounds right..

sometimes my surge lasts for days and sometimes if i didn't test twice a day i'd miss it...

If you know about when you will be getting your positive try to baby dance every day for 2-3 days before your positive, the day of your positive and for the next two days too..

hang upside down, afterwards, to help the swimmers get where they need to be.

Yes, I test often (a few times per day) and only see one positive a month IF I'm lucky. Do you chart your temps? OPK will tell you when you are about to ovulate and your temp increase confirms it happened.
