  • Can you be in DKA with a normal blood sugar?

I am a type 1 diabetic and have been feeling off for a few days. I am slightly nauseated, and haven't been drinking very much. I also may be dehydrated because I am going to the restroom a lot (think stomach flu). My blood sugars have been up and down all day despite not eating and taking extra insulin. My current blood sugar is 164. Could I be in DKA with nomal blood sugar?

    Thank you for your help!!

  • If I am allergic to percocet, can I still take vicodin?

I have been taking prescribed pain killers from my doctor. He recently switched me temporarily to Percocet, which seems to make my face all itchy. If you are having an allergic reaction to percocet, is it normal NOT to have a reaction to Vicodin? Please let me know if you have the answer. Thank you so much!

  • Should I worry about this?

I just started sweating, shaking, feeling like i am hyperventilating, have a fast heartbeat (110 bpm), and having a heavy feeling in my chest. I am a type 1 diabetic and I have 2 heart stents. Should I be worried? My blood pressure is at about 190/110. Thank you so much in advance.

  • Severe Lower Left Back Pain?

About 45 minutes ago, I have started having the worst back pain in the lower left side of my back that I have ever had. It's so bad, I have tears coming from my eyes. I called my doctor, but they just closed. Any suggestions? I have tried tylenol and ibuprofen, but neither have touched this pain. I would say it's about a 7 out of 10 on the pain scale. Any suggestions? I really appreciate any and all help. Thank you in advance.

  • Question about Shingles?

I just got diagnosed with shingles. Which is surprising since I never recalled having had chicken pox (apparently I had a really light case). I am in a lot of pain, which they told me I would be, but I am also tired all of the time. Exhausted. Even though I am sleeping. Is this exhaustion normal with having shingles? Should I get as much rest as possible? Thank you so much for your help.

  • Arm Pain, When to Worry?

For the last couple of months, I have been having excruciating arm pain. It goes away anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours. But while I am experiencing this pain, my blood pressure shoots up to worrying numbers. I have a high tolerance for pain, but it has sent me into tears and has blown my blood pressure up to 180/130 (my normal is 110/70). It is not related to my heart in any way, I had that checked the first time this happened. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow for said arm pain. I hate going to the emergency room, but sometimes the pain seems too much to bear. When should I go to the emergency room for these pain attacks? I appreciate any help in this regards. Thank you so much

    1. How often should I check ketone levels while spilling high ketones?

    2. When should I seek medical attention?

  • Can I fix spilling high ketones at home?

I am a type 1 diabetic and in the past, when I was spilling high ketones, I always went to the ER. I am currently spilling high ketones and yes, my blood sugar is abnormally high (fighting an infection). What I am wondering is, with extra insulin and increasing my fluid intake, can I fix this issue without going to the hospital? I thank you in advance for your help.

  • Indescribable Arm Pain...?

I have been getting major, yet indescribable arm pain after lying down on and off for a few months. It travels down my arm from my shoulder to my wrist and the pain gets so bad, it raises my blood pressure to above 180/110. I saw my doctor who took x-rays of my arm and did an EKG on my heart and both tests came back clean. Has anyone had anything/heard of anything like this? If so, what was it? Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Sick Diabetic With Question?

I have been sick with a summer cold for the past 3 days. My blood sugar has been unusually high and I am spilling small amounts of ketones. My blood sugar has spiked up over 400 even though I have been taking extra insulin to counteract it. It should have been more than enough. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

  • High Blood Pressure Caused by Pain?

I have either an injury or a pinched nerve that causes immense pain in my wrist and arm. The pain gets so bad that my blood pressure (which is normally 109/69) sky rockets up to 174/101. I do not have hypertension. I keep taking my pain pills to reduce the pain, but is there anything I can do in the meantime to try and lower my blood pressure? Thank you in advance.

  • Pain associated with ovarian cysts?

I have been diagnosed with having a large ovarian cyst on one of my ovaries. I am in the middle of my cycle and I have been experiencing nausea, massive cramping, and a low grade fever. Could a cyst be the cause of these symptoms? Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Should I go to the ER?

I had my gallbladder removed 11 days ago. The last 2 days, I have had the most horrible abdominal cramping I have ever felt. I have tried antacids, Gas-X (both pills and the strips that melt on your tongue), ibuprofen, Aleve, heating pad, mints, drinking water, walking around, NOTHING is providing relief. I am at my wits end. I have only slept 4 hours in the last 2 days due to pain. Is this something that I should go to the ER for? Thank you all in advance for your help.

  • Doctor or a trip to the ER for sick Diabetic?

I am a diabetic in my 30's (and have been a diabetic for years). I currently am fighting a 102 fever (even after getting the flu shot) and am currently spilling moderate ketones in my urine. I haven't had a fever this high in years, so I am not sure how to proceed. Should I make a trip to the ER? Or is this something that can wait to see my normal doctor about. Thank you in advance for any/all advice.

  • What size CBR is needed to fit into an 8 gauge flesh tunnel?

I recently decided to stretch my ears up to an 8 gauge. I bought flesh tunnels, which I absolutely love. I want to be able to put a cbr through the flesh tunnel, and I am unsure as to what size cbr is needed (a 3/8" cbr is too small). Does anyone have experience with this? What size did you end up using?

Please do not answer if you do not know what a flesh tunnel is.

I am putting this in the tattoo section as it classifies as a body modification. Thank you all in advance.

  • I have a strange question that I honestly can't answer...?

My husband and I are currently trying to get pregnant. This month is the first month I started using OPK's and I had and LH surge on Sept. 16. We also BD'd the 14,15, and 16th. I have had sore breasts for a few days which I usually get when my AF is going to show up, but it's not due for a while. And they actually HURT... but I digress.

Here is my question (sorry for the rambling). I have been counting calories for a year, making sure not to go above 1500 calories a day. I used to have trouble eating enough to hit my minimum (1200), but the past 3 days, I have been ravenous. I just can't seem to get full. So my question for you lovely ladies is this: Should I try to stay at my 1500 calorie menu and be hungry? Or should I eat until I am full (or until I find out if I am pregnant or not). I really appreciate the help. This is a first for me. Thank you very much in advance.

  • Question about OPK's and surges?

I have just started testing this month using OPK strips. I had a positive LH surge yesterday (tested twice and both were positive), but today, I tested out of curiosity and the test came back negative (no LH surge detected). Does that sound right? I am new to this (trying to conceive and testing etc.). Any advice is helpful. Thank you in advance.

  • Hell City Tatto Festival in Columbus, OH?

Hello everyone! Is anyone here planning on going to the Hell City Tattoo Festival in Columbus Ohio next weekend? My husband and I are going to be there all day Saturday, and if any of you regulars are going, I would love to say hi. :D

My tattoo artist says it should be a lot of fun, and it's our first tattoo festival. I should be pretty easy to spot. :D I have black horn rimmed glasses, black hair usually in pig tails (tons of people say I look like Abby from NCIS). I will be wearing a neon green shirt with black writing on it and a pair of shorts and I am the one with all the gaming tattoos (Bowser on my right forearm, Kirby and Meta Knight on my left calf and pokemon on my right calf) and I will be with my 6 foot husband who also has black hair and glasses. So if you go and see me, feel free to say hi. :)
