When spilling high ketones...?
I have one more question. I have been fighting a UTI on and off for well over a month now. I currently have blood sugar of over 400 and am spilling max ketones. I have 2 questions in regards to this...
1. How often should I check ketone levels while spilling high ketones?
2. When should I seek medical attention?
I really appreciate any and all help. Thank you so much.
I cannot access that page. It says 'Failed to load page content." I would gladly look if I could...

I appreciate that it costs money to test your ketones, my friend, but I would suggest that you test several times a day.
If you already have high levels of ketones you should already have sought medical attention.
Unfortunately, whilst you have high levels of ketones it's doing damage to your organs, blood vessels, and nerves.
I'm really not purposely trying to sound over-dramatic, but it really is an urgent situation. (Ketones are present when improper fat metabolism is taking place. Your body is using fat and muscle tissue to create a form of energy that will keep it alive. Although this MIGHT sound good to people who wish to lose weight, it's gone further than the stage of ketosis, which is what dieters strive to achieve. Your blood is becoming more acidic, which causes the damage that I spoke of earlier.)
I really do hope that you'll seek medical attention. Your doctor MAY well increase your insulin dosage(s), if you're taking insulin injections, MAY suggest insulin injections for a period of time, or MAY increase the dosage(s) of oral medications that you are currently taking, or may introduce another oral medication to supplement what you already take.
I wish you well, my friend, and truthfully hope that you make a speedy recovery.

I would be checking ketones at least daily, but more importantly check blood sugar about every 2 hours until it is in normal range. Also drink LOTS of water! It will help flush out infection in the urinary tract and increase the volume of your blood thus lowering blood sugar (Note: NOT a substitute for diabetes meds).
Also, if you are a frequent UTI sufferer, you might consider cranberry capsules to help acidify the urine and help prevent UTIs. I take this and have found it very helpful.

You should be seeking medical attention now. You are in DKA and the infection you have is causing your blood sugars to be out of control. That can turn into sepsis but more importantly, the DKA is very dangerous. You are dehydrated and in need of treatment now.
