Games/races for mother and child?

Ok I just did this a couple years ago at my sons birthday party. One thing we did was the kids got into teams of two and had to put on adult clothes and race to the end of the yard and back, give the adult clothes to the other kid on the team who would then run. We had a jumping contest, who could jump the farthest. The one the kids liked best was we had this big tub of cottage cheese, spaghetti noodles and pudding and we dyed it green, we also put a bunch of rubber balls in it and they had to run to it and fish out a rubber ball and run back in two teams. First team to finish won, except we really didnt play up the whole winner thing.

Maybe the mothers can be handed a list of school supplies, maybe make it a little different for each person, and see who can put together a backpack of school supplies the fastes.
