A question about a spending cap?

Can anyone answers why neither candidate is talking about putting a cap on spending? This especially goes toward Obama supporters. We are borrowing money to fund social security, which makes our debt even worse. How are we going to pay for a National Healthcare system which we will obviously be paying for by borrowing more money, which will make our national debt worse and our dollar weaker. The answers is we can't, so why would you campaign on an issue that will never happen. I have no problem with raising taxes, but only if we cap spending and pay down the national debt. Why is no one talking about this issue in a serious way? That goes for both candidates.

Update:

Hey Ethel. News flash...the Democrat controlled House and Senate must have approved that spending for that check to have been written. Sorry nice try. What does that have to do with a cap on spending? You are proving my point.

Update 2:

Why do I support a tax increase if we cap spending? So our children and grandchildren do not have to pay for our mistakes. Pay down the national debt and make our dollar stronger. It's a good compromise and everyone wins in the long run. I do agree that we have wasteful spending, but a cap would help stop a lot of that.

Because we don't like the Fact the Bush/McCain just give one billion dollar to the country of Georgia. That Country shouldn't get a penny of my tax dollar.

Russia and Israel made a pack three day ago, to stop Georgia. Rep's will get all of us killed

How are we going to fund heath care.

By stop funding other countries like Iraq that cost 10 million a month, they have their own money.

Just nine month of the Iraq money would take care of all the American problems.

You have a point, but shame on you for your attitude towards raising taxes.

the government has spend nearly $1 trillion in bail outs and wasted tax payer money this year...and that's just want was in the news that we heard of....like the farm bill....Bears & Steans....now Fannie and Freddie....

Government doesn't make money or produce anything. I simply collects our hard earned money then spends it like water. So if I or you did that, we'd have to do without, go in debt, find the money somewhere to pay our bills or do without till its dealt with... Yet your all for raising taxes so the government can have more money when they are irrepsonsible ?

That's what government does...especially the democrat party. They mismanage funds and tax money, then ask for more, then try to get their greedy fingers involved in area's they shouldn't be. They take control, they increase taxes, make up fees and you sit there taking it. Where does the cycle end ? Does all America have to take it in the shorts until there's nothing left to tax ?

We have a $9 tillion national debt.

We owe $53 trillion in social security benfits to the baby boomer generation alone and we don't have it.

The government wastes money left and right on positions that do nothing, Congress has accomplished little for the citizens of this country, always pork, always earmarks, always riders on important bills. Its time for government to go on a diet and cut the fat.

America needs to stop spending at International level, they also neeed to stop printing dollars just for the sake of it.

They need to focus on regulating policies for Banks.
