Why do Republicans keep thinking that they'll pay more taxes under Obama's plan?

Why do Republicans keep saying that Obama is going to raise everyone's taxes? According to the Tax Policy Institute, Obama's plan would cut taxes for 80% of households. Another 10% would see no change in their taxes from today. And the wealthiest 10% would see an increase in their taxes. Furthermore, Obama's plan would save middle-income families more than with McCain's.

Here's a chart from the Washington Post comparing Obama's plan with McCain's:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story...

Obama has said that he will repeal the Bush tax cuts for people making over $250,000/yr. For middle-income families, Obama has pledged that you will not see any increase in your taxes, not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains tax, not any of your taxes. Barack Obama has pledged as such in his recent speech in Dover, NH (go to time 1:05 in the video):

"The TPC’s calculations factor in what's in effect a hidden tax on individuals that results from taxing corporations. McCain proposes to lower the corporate income tax rate, and Obama proposes billions of dollars in increased corporate taxes in the form of “loophole closings.” Individuals wouldn’t experience those changes as an increased tax bill from the government, but both the Congressional Budget Office and TPC allocate all corporate tax to owners of capital rather than to consumers. That means rather than flowing through to consumers in the form of higher prices or lower wages, corporate tax changes would show up as higher or lower returns on investments, which typically come in the form of corporate dividends, and profits or losses from stock sales...." <-- Not to mention the layoffs corporations would have to make as a result

"We'd also note that retirees would fare quite a bit less well than working families under Obama's tax plan: The TPC estimates that 32 percent of households with a person over age 65 would see a tax increase." <-- Hmmm...that's interesting. Retirees have close to 100% voter turnout. I hope that seniors really send a message to Obama. I'm sure many seniors were quite offended by Obama's recent ad making fun of John McCain, the old, out of touch guy from the '80s.

Where in this world can you find a government left of centre that hasn't increased taxation.

You only have to look at the socialist record in the UK. Whenever they have been in power taxes have always increased. The latest increase was to abolish the 10% rate for the first few hundred pounds of taxable income and to increase it to 20%. The government was nearly defeated over this but they managed to introduce a last minute scam before it was agreed by parliament.

They use the money paid by hard working people to give as benefit payments to groups who are usually socialist voters.

Obama's 50cent per gallon gas tax, (added to the current 18.4 cent gas tax for a total of 68.4 cents per gallon) will have people paying more in taxes, across the board.

And the windfall profit tax on oil companies, which will cost the tax payers $2000 a year, so Obama can "rebate" $1000 a year.

    >>Why do Republicans keep thinking that they'll pay more taxes under Obama's plan?<<

Because I can see from the Washington Post chart that I will (vs. McCain's plan). The point at which the McCain plan is more advantageous is a family income of $111,646. That's a married couple in which each makes only $55,826. That is not a lot in a metro area such as Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, etc.

Social reforms equal more taxes. Its that simple. Do I think we will get a break under McCain? Absolutely not. They are all part of the federal government which has us bent over backwards to empower their ridiculous political agendas. Go ahead and keep believing one of these men are the solution. They are the ******* problem.

Obama wants to raise business tax, and these businesses will just raise prices. And Joe Republican takes the hit, because at least our party puts back into the system.

They don't really believe that. They simply don't care what Obama's actual policies are. They decided they didn't like him because they were told not to like him, and they could discover that he just found a cure for cancer and saved the lives of fluffy bunnies and they'd still hate him.

Their hatred is irrational. It's not based on anything. They just hate everyone and everything different from themselves.

You will see huge tax increases! It's the Democrat way and it is what is responsible for tanking the economy. Remember your democrat controlled Congress has done nothing but raise taxes. Obama wants to give Billions to Africa. among other ludicrous spending. Stop falling for the Obama Con! And you are kidding your self if you think Obama is not going to raise taxes!

Because regarding the 2009 tax cycle, Obama voted to raise taxes on individuals making $42,000 or more on 4 different occasions.

    McCain 08!
