Audio Cassette tape driver repair?
I have an old Hitachi Model T-44L turntable/double cassette recorder/stereo radio, which was known as a music centre when I bought it. It works fully except that the double cassette has mechanical problems, tapes can not be inserted due to mechanical failure. It is over 35 years old but I don't want to replace it. Hitachi can not repair it because of its age and their approved service agents at Mitcham or Horley aren't interested.
Can any one recommend a reliable repair unit located preferably in North London or S W Essex.
3 AnswersMusic & Music Players1 decade agoImmigration applicants don't like unfavourable replies?
Many of the questions in the immigration section are requests for information on how to stay in the UK when visas are about to expire. These range from "I've lost my passport with the visa stamp in it, or my time limit has nearly expired", to "Although neither of us are entitled to stay here, our child was born here, how can we stay on using the child's status".
If an answer is given that they are just economic migrants a violation notice is issued against the answerer. Why don't Yahoo answers study the question and answer fully rather than just responding to a complainant that's just been told a few home truths?
4 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoKyocera Printer with Windows Vista, company state that Remote Control Panel won't operate on USB connection?
Has anyone tried using an USB to parallel cable converter between a computer USB connection and the FS 1010 printer parallel input connector so that the Remote Control Panel will work. The company say they have not tested this, only a user who has actually done it and hs got it working can provide a satisfactory answer. This is using a cable connection without a wireless network.
2 AnswersPrinters1 decade agophotography negatives into computer prints?
I have many old photo negatives up to 40 years old. Other than getting prints made, is there any equipment available that will allow me to insert my negatives so that I can directly transfer the image into "My Pictures" on my computer and then print it off as I would normally do for a normal stored picture.
4 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoWestfalia Personal Organiser HC-8000?
I have inherited this personal organiser without it's setting up and it's operating instructions. I can not find any website for downloading or for ordering a copy from the supplier. I note that several of these organisers are up for auction on the internet. Please copy suppliers details to me or advise of a site for downloading them.
1 AnswerVolkswagen1 decade agoDifficulty downloading pdf files, please read the additional details before replying?
I recently reinstalled my windows 2000 SP operating system and my adobe acrobat program. Previously I could click on my users manuals in my program files programs and also my internet pdf files and get an immediate page of clear English rather than the squares and other symbols that I get now.
I now have to open my pdf files through opening Adobe first and then using "open" in the File menu. On internet it's even more of a problem, I can't link my incoming emails to Adobe because although I've chosen "open Adobe on the internet", I lose this option when I select my emails.

3 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoFormatting DVD+RW discs?
I need to completely unformat DVD discs that I've used on my computer for recording DVD videos. Using Nero Quick Erase or it's Full Erase does not do this. I've looked at the answers to previous similar questions and they don't touch on this subject.
The reason I need to unformat is that they are rejected by my Sony RDR-HXD870 DVD recorder and there's nothing in the supplier's manual on how to do this, it only says disc are automatically formatted upon insertion, and if I try the format mode I get the message ""Cannot make this setting with the currently loaded disc type or setting"
If it were a floppy disc I could pass the floppy throgh a strong AC magnetic field, but DVD discs are formatted optically.
Any ideas anyone?
4 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoAssistance needed for DVD/CD labelling techniques?
I have no problems with designing and the printing of CD/DVD labels on the correct adhesive backed paper, but I need advice on how to accurately cut the inner and outer circle perimeters, and locating the cut label accurately on the disk.
Are there any cutting or location tools available for a small amount of home use, or useful techniques that you could recommend?
7 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoWindows 2000 why can't i select the recovery console with arrow keys at startup. I have a wireless keyboard
I recently installed the recovery console on my windows 2000 professional operating system because i needed to delete file internat.exe from my system32 folder using MSDOS without getting this command with windows running. I could not use the arrow keys on my wireless keyboard and had to plug in my old wired keyboard so that the arrow keys allowed me to select the recovery console mode at startup. Is there any way I can select the operating system at startup using a wireless keyboard and where can i download a clean version of internat.exe?
3 AnswersSoftware1 decade ago1 year ago I had a trial run on a program and unistalled it and its registry entries. Why is this remembered?
While removing the registry details I took care to also remove all associated software names. Somewhere in my registry there must be a coded date in respect of my trial run. How can I find this register entry? I have Windows 2000 SP4.

I compiled a letter on a friend's computer, copied it onto a 1.44 Mb floppy, brought it home, opened it and it's all symbols which I understand is compressed postscript. Also I've seen it before when I've tried to open files found after a search operation. Not too technical a reply please, I'm 77.
