Audio Cassette tape driver repair?
I have an old Hitachi Model T-44L turntable/double cassette recorder/stereo radio, which was known as a music centre when I bought it. It works fully except that the double cassette has mechanical problems, tapes can not be inserted due to mechanical failure. It is over 35 years old but I don't want to replace it. Hitachi can not repair it because of its age and their approved service agents at Mitcham or Horley aren't interested.
Can any one recommend a reliable repair unit located preferably in North London or S W Essex.

I can't recommend anyone, I would have taken the thing apart to look. Many cassette mechanism failures are due to the drive belt breaking. Spares are on the net - google for cassette drive belt.
Alternatively, start looking in charity shops and ebay (one sold this week for £10) gumtree etc.
