What is your opinions of PETA? ?

I'm just wondering. I'll not give mine at this time. I'm just wanting to get a general feel of the public at large.

Update:

I am glad to see that many aren't fooled by the antics of PETA. It just galls me when I see movie stars and the like, giving millions to PETA. I wonder if they even know what PETA is about, or if they just know what P.E.T.A stands for but not what the organization stands for. More later.

Update 2:

For those that are for PETA, do you realize that they want to see your pets euthanized? That they want to see domestic cats extinct?! Of course I want to see the way humankind care for animals to improve, but to say that I cannot have a dog as a member of my family is over the top.

Update 3:

Do you also know that they kidnap dogs and cats from functions where people gather to show or exhibit their pets? I have a dog that I show, and have been warned at many locations to be aware PETA is around and to not take my eye of my dog. Of course I don't anyway, I don't even bring a crate to the show, she is by my side 100% of the time.

I'm all about animal rights but PETA goes overboard. I don't believe that most people realize just how extreme PETA is about animal rights. They believe that an ant's life is no more valuable than a dog's life and I'm sorry but I strongly disagree. I also believe that we should use rodents for necessary medical testing to find cures for diseases such as cancer as long as it is in the most humane manner and the animal suffers as little as possible. I know that sounds horrible but I just think it's worth finding a cure for childhood cancer if it means experimenting on a mouse. I don't think we should test on other animals though which I know may not make sense to a lot of people. We all have our own opinions! I always tell animal rights activists that if their child was really dying of cancer and there was a drug out there that was developed by testing on animals that would cure him would they rather have the child die just to stick to their beliefs? I don't think so. I DO STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT WE SHOULD FIND ALTERNATIVES TO ANIMAL RESEARCH SUCH AS HARVESTING HUMAN STEM CELLS AND USING MODERN TECHNOLOGY! I also won't buy make-up that has been tested on animals which PETA encourages. I also don't believe in fur coats which we all know PETA is strongly against! I think it's fine that PETA protests but when it comes to throwing red paint on people's furs that is crossing the line. ONCE AGAIN, I DO NOT BELEIVE THAT MOST PEOPLE KNOW WHAT PETA IS ALL ABOUT! They also believe that we should not keep animals as pets EVEN DOGS! That is what PETA truly believes although I know most people don't know that. They just think they are against animal testing and fur coats and not eating meat! I respect everyone's opinons although I may not agree with them. I think it's stupid that PETA doesn't think we should have cats and dogs as pets! I bet Pamela Anderson (their big celebrity supporter) has pets and they don't say anything about it! I also think a lot of people get into PETA 'cause they think it's cool and not so much because they truly believe in what PETA is all about. Sorry about going on and on. Animal rights is something I think about a lot so you got me going, lol! I do love animals though! Here's PETA's website so people can read more about them.

Don't get me wrong. Some of what they believe in and have helped stop (like using many animals in circuses) is wonderful. It's just that they are way too extreme for what I believe in. They are even against horseshows and used to love showing my horses and my horses enjoyed it as well!

GOOD QUESTION! YOU GET A STAR!

edit- I just read more of what you wrote and it sounds like you and I think a lot alike which is good!

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Read more here https://tr.im/q7CMV

The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don’t achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren’t putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.

The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.

Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.

I believe PETA needs to change their habits. All they are doing are making more people go against them, and not help them.

They have become 'freaks' among the folks that really and truly do want to change the way we treat animals. I would not support PETA at all the way they are now.

I just wonder how something that started out for such a good cause could go so far left and be so wrong in the way they handle things; and also in their advertisements! Disgusting!

PETA is a slaughter house. Last year the kill rate in their shelter was 95%! The average kill rate for a normal shelter is 37%. Does that not seem a little off to people?

And the whole Michael Vick case. Yeah, I fully believe PETA was involved because of the media circus. They wanted the pitbulls put to sleep because of what they were. Isn't that rather unethical?

Personally, I hate PETA. Ingrid Newkirk is a psycho.

They're a bunch of fruitcakes and liars. On the dog showing note, I always have to keep one eye on the judge and my dog in the ring, and one on our setup to be sure no PETA freaks are letting our dogs out of their crates.

They give their organization a cutesy name to draw naive people in, and give their policies and ideas cutesy names as well. People don't see the underlying truths, and the fact that they aren't out to help animals - they're out to eliminate domesticated animals altogether. They would rather dogs and cats be out in their 'natural habitats' - the streets, bridges, railroad tracks, highways of our world today - than in our home, being fed 2 square meals a day, and giving and receiving unparalleled unconditional love.

    I don't like PETA.

If you want an organization that actually helps fight for animal rights and fights against cruelty, support the SPCA. If you want to support a psycho organization that has warped goals and would rather see domesticated animals dead than in loving homes.

I don't agree with a lot of things they believe in. But my problem is not with that. They are very aggressive and they're just not very nice at trying to spread their beliefs. It makes the majority of people dislike them. They have nothing good to say about anyone and if you ever hear about them in the news, it's bad news about them. They are against everyone and have more enemies then friends.

I think if they really want to make a difference for animals, they need to change their tactics.

PETA is noting but a joke.

They have done more harm than help animals. They are also againist keeping animals (dogs, cats, birds, etc.) as pets. They are just a bunch of idiots that take it to the extreme .....

I wouldn't spit in their direction...

I'm sure they started out with a good purpose. However, they've lost that and become dillusional and over the top. I'm not a fan of peta.

I think that they aim to achieve too much and by doing so they alienate most people and achieve very little. They are too extreme in their views. I do agree with many of their ideals but not with their shock tactics.

I think that while other organisations may not aim so high, they achieve more because their goals are more realistic.

I don't particularly trust extremist's, their message has away of getting lost in the mayhem they like to create. I also find that there tends to be different standards within these types of groups, with the higher echelon often not "walking the walk" so to speak.
