Potatoes, carrots, maybe turnip, or parsnip, root vegetables,
onions, celery, bay leaves, cubed beef dredged in flour & browned.
Finish with peas, corn niblets, green beans, etc.

I start with soft cooking a little trinity (green peppers, onions and celery). Then add cut up beef ( usually a couple pounds of NY sirloin) and fry until the are lightly browned. I than add a little salt and pepper and enough water water to cover (with a couple of beef bullion cubes) and simmer for an hour or two. I than add carrots and potatoes and simmer till they are tender. A little flour and water roux to thicken and I'm done.

Meat-chicken, turkey or sausage; but is usually beef
Add that to onions, celery, carrots, potatoes and broth that is akin to the meat being used. vegetarian broth can be used for a meatless stew.

Believe it or not you can put a can of baked beans in there. It thickens it up and makes it saucier. Taste is great.
Other normal items are onions, green beens, corn, potatoes.
Believe me the baked beans make a difference. It may sound strange but it is not wait until you taste it.

Fruits have sugar, it's natural, but some fruits can even be bad for you. Veggies are a lot healthier, particularly the green ones.
