Wedding photographer a scam artisit?

Okay so I found out my photographer is a scam artist, it's all over the internet and he's screwed many people out of their photo albums. My question is if he doesn't give me my photo album could I some how get money back, could I even sue him? We do have a contract and I'm supposed to get enlargement pictures and a photo album. But people are saying after he shoots the wedding he ignores you .. I'm nervous.

Do you have a signed document stating what you are supposed to have? Is it an official business document? Receipt of payment? This is your proof.

So here is what you need to do:

This is a strength in numbers situation. You can try and pursue this alone but I think you would stand a better chance with others who have been scammed as well. See if you can contact some of the others. The more of you who file a lawsuit the better chance I think you all would have. Everyone files a separate lawsuit but all with the same lawyer if possible.

Everyone would need similar documents. If he has changed business names frequently than that might prove his business is shady.

If you have a contract signed by both parties (You and the photographer) stating that you are to receive an item for your payment and you have a receipt for the money you paid for that item, and he refuses to deliver that item to you then you can file suit against him in court for breach of contract. You may however only get your money back and not the photos which would be a shame to miss out on the memories of your wedding.

I love these photographers, people are so scared of them after horrible stories they come to me! Another reason to do better research before obtaining a photographer. Sorry to hear this happened to. Whatever is in your contract is what he will be held to. If it's in writing, and you don't get it, sue. Plain and simple fact. Beware of fine print. This is why I explicitly tell all my clients to read everything. I don't try to scam anyone, it is my obligation to let people know what they are signing.
