1999 Ford Escort wheel bearing replacement?
Okay, I have a bad front wheel bearing. Generally not a big deal. But don't know much about this vehicle. Is this typical, with a seal and bearing race that can be tapped out or is this the type that requires a special press to repair? Driveway or machine shop?
Thanks Richard. That's what I thought. I've never taken one of these apart.
Anyone else ?

A press or speciality tool is required to accomplish this type of repair. You have to remove the spindle from the bearing and then the bearing from the hub, with out doing damage to any of the parts. Machine shop will do it for under $50.00 but you have to dismantle the front end and take the assembly to the shop for them to work on. I know, I do them all the time.
