most of them give either the standard boiler plate speech or try to give an answer that ends where it started basically leaving everyone scratching their head.the only time anything is done is when the congressman and senators price of their steaks or grain go up then they run around like the keystone cops trying to put a band-aid on a severed head.the presidential candidates like looking like they care about rural areas by parading around in costumes and having "town hall meetings"in a farmers or ranchers house to get votes.the glad handing and baby kissing are all a cover so that they can put their personal agendas out and appoint someone into an office that also has an agenda of their own.congressmen and senators vote goes to whoever gives them the most perks and the president usually votes in the interest of their home state and if it is an agricultural state we may stand a chance but otherwise we as the public are at the mercy of the government.

I believe you can find voting records on some websites for the US Govt. I have found some for my local state govt. so I bet there is a way to find out, it's got to be public knowledge.

Watch for items like Farm Bills. We currently have one here in Michigan under fire - it's gone through many changes due to complaints from non-farmers and I've become involved because there are too many people moving out to the country then trying to limit the activities of local farmers. If you're moving to a farming community, there's going to be animals, smell and slow moving equipment on the roads, get over it.

Perhaps visitng McCains and Obamas websites will have something included or a contact mechanism that you can ask?

Those issues are governed at the state and county level for the most part. Federal government is involved in wetland preservation and other issues of environmental protection, which includes water quality and handling of waste from livestock. But most regulation is still state by state, and even county by county.

Yes, a very good question. One I doubt that either candidate has given much thought to.

I know that lots of subsidies are granted and there has been some controversy at the USDA over the money going for ethenol production instead of food. The government also purchases food crops directly for contribution to the World Food Bank and our own global aid.

Perhaps their congressional voting records could be checked.

usually county officials are the ones who take care of that. I am sure if you went to there websites you may find something on that subject.
