Should Obama and McCain be left off the Texas ballot for violating election laws?
Bob Barr has filed a lawsuit that simply states that Obama and McCain missed the deadline to file for ballot access in Texas. He appears to have a point: both the RNC and DNC were held AFTER the due date (August 26th I believe). Texas law states that parties must nominate their candidate AND submit their names for the ballot no later than 70 days before the general election. Do you think they should be left off the ballot in Texas? Why or why not?
Those of you that think they should be on the ballot: We both know that if a third party candidate missed the deadline there wouldn't even be a discussion. Why must the rules be bent for only Republicans and Democrats?

NOThis would effectively disenfranchise Texas voters in a national election.
Texas should not be permitted to set its rules for candidates to be placed on the ballot in such a manner that a candidate is left off the ballot because the party convention was not held in time for the candidate to be placed on the ballot.
Essentially I would consider the Texas law to be a violation of Federal Civil Rights law.

If both Obama and McCain get left off the Texas ballot, that's 34 fewer electoral votes for McCain, almost assuring an Obama victory.
Way to go, Bob Barr!

Well because the TEXAS would not have any say in the Vote...
In this particular cercumstance... There is no choice but to bend the rules...
UNLESS a third party... like Ron Paul.. was on the ballot and filed within the allotted time frame...
GOOD LUCK

just another way for Bob Barr to endear himself to an un adoring nation of voters also Mr, paul, the issue is more than likely being resolved as we type away, how many votes ya figure those two misfits will get from this shenanigan just their own I'd wager paul's tally likely to drop from 5-4

Sure. People had a fit over the Hillary/Obama ticket in Michigan and Florida back in the primary season, so it's only fair...

no. it violates the spirit of a democracy.
this is from an obama supporter, who would have a lot to gain if texas's vote wasn't counted.
it's more important that the people have a right to vote. one person one vote. the people shouldn't suffer for the candidates' mistakes.

HECK YES!
Thanks to the 3rd party people who are supporting this. If texas gets off the balot, we'll have a landslide obama victory!
