What is the best route to getting a GIS certification?
My wife would like to get her GIS certification. She has about 5 years of experience with obtaining, researching, and analyzing topographical maps with an environmental company. Having just been laid off she would like to get her GIS certification. Should she take 12 hours at a local community college (1 semester) or can she simply get it online though a place such as 'GIS certification institute.' Given our slowly but surely diminishing bank account would a GIS certification from an online 'school' be almost as good as if it came from a community college given her experience?

2 AnswersEarth Sciences & Geology1 decade agoHow do I make sure a car is no longer registered in my name?
I just sold my car and filled out all of the paper work. The person that bought it says they will turn it all in (e.g. the title transfer paperwork). So, how can I confirm that he does turn it in and get the title transfered in their name?
4 AnswersInsurance & Registration1 decade agoWhat is worse: high inflation long-term or moderate unemployment short-term?
If we let these banks fail and the bad debt to be liquidated, sure it would be painful....but this would be short-term. Plus, the housing prices would come down to non-insane levels and only businesses and people that made poor choices would be punished. Balling out companies though not only rewards idiots. We don't even have the money to do it, so we borrow it, print it out, and put it on the now $11.5 trillion tab this country owes to countries like China. This in turn devalues our currency. WATCH GOLD GO TO $2000/OZ IN THE NEAR FUTURE. OUR CURRENCY IS SOOOOO SCREWED IT IS GOING TOWARDS TO PESO IN VALUE!!!! What do you think?
5 AnswersElections1 decade agoShould Obama and McCain be left off the Texas ballot for violating election laws?
Bob Barr has filed a lawsuit that simply states that Obama and McCain missed the deadline to file for ballot access in Texas. He appears to have a point: both the RNC and DNC were held AFTER the due date (August 26th I believe). Texas law states that parties must nominate their candidate AND submit their names for the ballot no later than 70 days before the general election. Do you think they should be left off the ballot in Texas? Why or why not?
13 AnswersElections1 decade agoIs it true Obama and McCain are not on the Texas ballot?
I am reading Bob Barr is leading a lawsuit charging that Obama and McCain missed the deadline to be on the Texas ballot. Texas law states that candidates must submit the paperwork no later than 5 p.m. on the 70th day before the election is to be held. The fact is that neither Obama or McCain were nominated before that date.
Won't they have to violate Texas law to get their names on the ballot? I guess since they don't follow the U.S. constitution we can't really expect them to adhere to the Texas constitution, right? If everyone follows Texas law, then Barr should be the only one on the Texas ballot....McCain/Obama can't even be write-ins. What do you think?

5 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhy do you support Obama or McCain over Barr/Baldwin or McKinney/Nader?
Barr and Baldwin are much more conservative than McCain. McKinney and Nader are much more liberal than Obama (and McKinney and her VP are both black women). Besides thinking your vote won't count, why will you cast your vote for Obama or McCain instead of one of the latter 3rd candidates?
5 AnswersElections1 decade agoIs voting for a 3rd party a wasted vote?
I voted against Bush in 2004 and cast a vote for Kerry. I have come to realize that I voted for the lesser evil and it was still EVIL. I can't do this again and is why I am voting 3rd party because there are several candidates that I feel are better than Obama/McCain. Some people say that this would be a wasted vote. I believe that voting for someone that is closer to your values is better than voting for the lesser evil. At least I will have an argument in 4-8 years when I can say...'well don't blame me, I voted for XXX.' What do you think?
35 AnswersElections1 decade agoGas is trading at $2.45 on wall street....why are we paying $3.50?
http://www.cnbc.com/id/15839171/site/14081545/
O.K....about $0.40 federal and state tax + about 10 cents profit at the pump...then gas should be at about $3. Why is it $3.50 (or higher depending on where you live)?
9 AnswersInvesting1 decade agoDo you think Obama or McCain know the root cause of the U.S. financial mess?
Do you think either of them have a clue? I believe that instead of the government not doing enough, it did TOO much. I believe this because A) financial institutions like freddie and fannie were initially created by the government; B) the federal reserve creates the boom/bust cycle of our fiat monetary system; and C) ANYTIME THE GOVERNMENT GETS INVOLVED IS SCREWS IT UP. What do you think?
17 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhat are five differences between Obama and McCain?
I know it's tough, but can you find five differences between policies of Obama and McCain? Please, be specific as possible. Remember, both are for larger government, an interventionist foreign policy, budget deficits, nation building, and want all Americans to have 'affordable' health care.
7 AnswersElections1 decade agoAre you one of the 16% of Americans that actually votes FOR a candidate?
There has been a statistic that has been thrown around that says only 16% of Americans cast a vote for someone because they actually agree with that candidate. Whereas, the remaining percentage of Americans either don't vote OR actually vote AGAINST another candidate. Are you one of those 16% or someone that votes against candidates (i.e. you vote for the lesser evil)? Why would you vote against someone instead of voting for someone that belongs to a third party? Do you believe voting for a lesser evil is not voting for an evil?
10 AnswersElections1 decade agoWho would you rather vote for?
Someone that you agree with on almost every issue, but doesn't have a great change at winning the election, or someone that you kind of agree with but has a greater chance of winning?
19 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhy do you feel compelled to vote for 'the lesser of two evils?'?
Isn't it still a vote for an evil? If there were a candidate that you agreed with on >95% of the issues, but would likely get <10% of the vote, would you still vote for that candidate? Why or why not?
2 AnswersElections1 decade agoQuestion about Texas Patent Bar?
Greetings,
I currently hold a Ph.D. in Molecular BIology with several years of postdoctoral work. Having seen what is out there as far as jobs go and thinking of getting out of the hazardous laboratory environment, I am investigating what it will take for me to become a patent agent. All I need to do is pass the Texas Patent Bar exam, yes? Is there one specifically for the state of texas, or is there a national (U.S.) patent bar exam? Do you think if I took a good prep class and took the exam I could pass on the first try? All suggestions are appreciated!
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics1 decade agoKnow of a good website that explains the different types of bath tub diverters?
...specifically for three knob faucets?
1 AnswerDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoTub diverter question?
OK...so I bought this house and realized the tub/shower diverter does not work. There is a diverter in place, but when you turn it, nothing happens. I took it out and looked at it and it looks as if someone replaced the old diverter with the wrong one. However, at the Bath spout there is a diverter...so we can induce flow to the shower, but this is an unprofessional job. I'd like to get the diverter working, so any thoughts on how to determine what time of diverter I need?
FYI: When I look into the pipe I see a seat about a few inches from the 1/2" thread at the opening of the pipe. THANKS IN ADAVANCE!!!
1 AnswerDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoHow come McCain is 'less' Republican than the Libertarian candidate, Bob Barr?
I can't vote for McCain and his facism. I can't vote for Obama and his welfare statism. So, I think I might have to vote for Bob Barr....I don't agree with everything he preaches, but I've come to realize I disagree with him less than the other candidates. I don't care if he ends up with 10% of the vote....I will not vote for the lesser evil of two parties.
