Question about Texas Patent Bar?

Greetings,

I currently hold a Ph.D. in Molecular BIology with several years of postdoctoral work. Having seen what is out there as far as jobs go and thinking of getting out of the hazardous laboratory environment, I am investigating what it will take for me to become a patent agent. All I need to do is pass the Texas Patent Bar exam, yes? Is there one specifically for the state of texas, or is there a national (U.S.) patent bar exam? Do you think if I took a good prep class and took the exam I could pass on the first try? All suggestions are appreciated!

There is only a "national" exam given a couple times a year by the Patent Office. They may provide an exam location in Texas, but it has nothing to do with Texas officially. The Patent Office Web site is www.uspto.gov. Rummage around in the Patent section or in the index for the Office of Enrollment and Discipline. There will be info on dates and places and how to there.
