diplomatic immunity at home real or just semantics?

If a foreign diplomat goes on vacation and goes home to his home country and gets into legal trouble can that person apply for and get diplomatic immunity? I know that they are covered overseas but do they get the same treatment in their home country? After all even on vacation they are still diplomats but are they covered by the immunity rule at home{the country they work for}

    No, you only have immunity in the country that has agreed to it. If you go home or to another country you fall under their rule of law.

    I think no, but corruption could very well change the rules.
