I forgot my wep key.?
I got an Ipod touch today and in my effort to connect it to the internet I realized I forgot my wep key. Not just the code but the pass phrase I used. I have tried everything I could think of is there anyway I can get on my computer and find out what I used? Im not about to change the pass phrase because I have 5 things connected to it already.

Normally your WEP key is stored in your router, so if you can login to that you might be able to see what it is. You can generally access your modem by typing the IP address into internet explorer while your computer is connected to the router with an ethernet cable. The standard IP address used by most modem/routers is 192.168.1.1.
It may also be worthwhile to see if you have saved the WEP key on your computer anywhere as most people I know would type it into Notepad and save it in My Documents.
If you really cannot find the WEP key anywhere and cannot guess what it is, for example if it is a randomised alphanumerical one, the best thing to do would be to reset the wireless settings in your router to factory defaults. From there it is relatively straightforward to reconfigure a WEP key. If you have an option between WEP and WPA, I would actually recommend WPA because it is much more secure than WEP encryption and you would be able to choose the password to something easy to remember.
If you have any trouble and get stuck, the best thing to do is to call the manufacturer for support, for example if your router is a Belkin you can call Belkin for support. Hope this helps =)

All you need to do is log on to your Wireless Access Point (WAP) and see if its there in plain text. Usually it is not hidden.
However, using WEP is a JOKE! It can be cracked VERY quickly!
You should be using WPA2 or at least WPA!
This sounds like a good time to change your 6 devices to WPA rather than use WEP. Otherwise, why use it at all?
EDIT - and you dont need Linux to crack it... ANYTHING within listening range could do the job!

you will have to hack your modem
the first thing you do is download (commview for wifi) then make sure ur wireless works with it if it does it will run u throw driver installer then once that is done click on the play bottom on the left hand corner and then find out which channel ur modem is on also take note which bit is your modem then once it tells u which channel its on if its on 6 u click channel 6 and then click capture when u did the go to the packets part and wait till 100,000 then exsport it to a cap file to desktop then leave it there for later then go google and put in aircrack-ng download it once that done u open it up and import the file u exported form commview the cap file then put in what bit ur modem is then click crack then give it 5 - 20 mins to found ur key they it will pop up and say key found

this is not advisable to hack other people's internet connection. BTW, just to letting you know that hacking a WEP securities wireless may takes days or even weeks to break it, you need to learn it and time consuming...
