Leaving Canned food in the can bad (open)?

The other day i had some zoodles and could only eat half a can (have mono right now :( ) so i put some aluminum wrap on the top of the can and put it in the fridge (was in cupboard before). Well my mom seen it and claims that leaving food in the can, can give you poisoning of some kind. true? false? she said the same thing for those big cans of apple juice since i just popped some holes in the can and put it in the fridge.

Things have improved in canned goods as compared to older times. The inside of cans are coated to prevent interacting with the food and to prevent that metallic taste. I never leave any food or juices in the original container once opened. No use taking chances when plastic and glass is readily available for storage in the fridge. Mom may be right to some degree, especially with acidic foods and cans.

The cans used today are coated to prevent reactions with the food and metals. However, when you open the can, the food reacts with the air and possibly the can. It tastes like metal. Yuck! You are not going to eat or drink that much because it will taste bad and you will stop. They do not make cans or can parts out of poisonous metals (like lead), so not to worry there. If you are not going to eat it all, take it out of the can and store it in another glass container. Plastic is okay, but I personally try to reduce my use of plastic - for the environment. Plastic picks up the flavors of things, so why not use glass? :)

    Get well soon!

Yes,you are supposed to refrigerate it,just as you would a canned meat product for humans. It will spoil if left unrefrigerated. I just put mine in a microwaveable container and heat it for 40 seconds or sit the can in a pan of hot water for 10 minutes to make the cold food easier to mix.

Your mom is right my friend, don't be lazy put leftovers in a plastic container, & take your butt to the dollar store & get a jug for that juice!
