Tattoo design quotation question?

A friend of mine has asked me if i can design him 3 tattoo's. First one is a half sleeve, Second is a 'celtic band' to go round his other arm and the third is some Roman pillars to go round a previous tattoo of his name (strange thing to have I know). Thing is I don't know what to charge. I have designed tattoo's but normally for myself or just for fun as I like that kind of art.

Anyone got any idea's on what i can charge (I live in the UK so in pounds would help or I can convert dollars), Would you charge for each individual tattoo or for the whole collection?

I am a retired graphic designer and so hopefully can help you. You need to work on an hourly rate. Now that could be from 5.00 an hour ( min wage) to 100.00 an hour. There are no rules as to what you should charge but you must give him a rough idea of how long it is going to take you to do it and make it clear that you cant just come up with the design in five minutes. I do not know about tattoo's and how you do the artwork for them, but if it is time consuming then you must let him know. People who do not know about art are not aware of how long some things take to do, but once they are, then the price that you charge can be justified. If you have no degree as such I would charge about 20.00 per hour.

    Good luck with your designs
