Reflux results for infants?
Hey folks - I really appreciated everyone's info. last night about my daughter's and their reflux - thanks! I have 6 week old twins - and this was per my Dr.'s advice...
NExt question - What results did any of you see when you started using rice cereal to help with reflux? My Pedi told me to mix just 1 teaspoon with their formula/milk and monitor for 1 day before increasing to 2 teaspoons (if no real results then come in.)
So - Just wondering what anyone else's experience is/was with using rice cereal to help reflux - did it help, how long did it take until you saw results, what did you notice were "side effects" (ie too much weight gain, effects on bowel movements, etc...)
Oh and - did you feel that you needed to feed less (I mean like if they were at 4 oz - did you do 3 1/5 oz with the cereal - or did you just stay with your same feeding schedule and amounts??)
Thank you for your input:)

my daughter had acid reflux. And I had to add milk to her rice cereal. It just thickins up so it has more of a chance in staying down. As for weight...I don't think she gained any faster than when she wasn't on it. As for how much I fed her, you will learn their cues of when you need to feed them more. When they can eat all their cereal, and drink the bottle/or nurse.. and still seem to want to eat then increase it a little. My daughter was also put on Zantac, to help with the reflux.
GOOD LUCK
p.s. whenever they start eating baby food or even solids the relux should go away!

With the cereal I did 1tsp per 2 oz. of formula. I also brought my daughter to a family chiropractor for her reflux, thank god I did. She was cured with in 3 visits and she is now 8 months and we have no problems. I highly suggest looking into a chiropractor.

You can purchase formula - Enfamil AR, Similac RS, especially made to thicken in babies tummy after it is drunk. No excessive weight gain b/c it has the same calories as normal formula.
