Just how Deep in This Scandal is McCain?

Senator John McCain's campaign manager was paid more than $30,000 a month for five years as president of an advocacy group set up by the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to defend them against stricter regulations, current and former officials say.

That's almost $2 MILLION

several current and former executives of the companies came forward to discuss the role that Rick Davis, Mr. McCain's campaign manager and longtime adviser, played in helping Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac beat back regulatory challenges when he served as president of their advocacy group, the Homeownership Alliance, formed in the summer of 2000. Some who came forward were Democrats, but Republicans, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed their descriptions.

"The value that he brought to the relationship was the closeness to Senator McCain and the possibility that Senator McCain was going to run for president again," said Robert McCarson, a former spokesman for Fannie Mae, who said that while he worked there from 2000 to 2002, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac together paid Mr. Davis's firm $35,000 a month. Mr. Davis "didn't really do anything," Mr. McCarson, a Democrat, said.

And how is it that McCain tried to pin all the Problems of Washington on Obama, when he has been up to this the whole time??

Update:

Beverely - you missed an important point - Clinton Signed the Gramm-Leach-Blieley act that deregulated the Loan companies - it was put together by Phil Gramm (R-TX) he is John McCain's economic advisor

In 1999 Clinton de-regulated banks, insurance companies etc to free them up to lend money so that everyone could buy a home. Good credit/bad credit - no income- stated income- no doc loans etc. I know this because I have worked in the mortgage business since 1986. My company refused to do anything but the regular conventional loans. We were considered to be discriminating by many because we saw the stupidity of these loans. McCain and Bush (whether you want to believe it or not) both tried to stop this from happening. The democrats in congress are at fault in this- Obama who took the 2nd highest amount of any politician from Fannie/Freddie & continued to vote to keep this practice going - one of his few real votes (rather than present). Do you honestly think with the crisis we are in right now, that if it were the Republican's fault, the Dems would not have already arrested, tried, convicted and Jailed them??????

This brings a question to my mind.

Why is it that if a Democrat is caught up in a scandal it's all over the news media immediately, but whenever the republicans are caught up in a scandal it's swept under the rug for decades by the news media and yet republicans will tell you that the media is slanted to the left?
