Suspended and I have no idea why. Has community moderation gotten out of control?

I had my account suspended, obviously not this one, and I have no clue why.

Some people are just reporting in order to disrupt the board. Just like Craigslist.

So if Yahoo isn't going to really have true moderation, I think this section is on it's way down the drain.

Anyone else think community moderation is not working???

The sad fact is that this site has deteriorated into a Salem witch hunt mentality where, if enough people scream that you violated the rules, Yahoo assumes you violated the rules and burns you at the stake... er, violates you. In some cases, yes, the user loses their account.

Last October, I lost my level 7 account even though I had over 104,000 points and was "Top Contributor" in 3 categories. It had taken me over a year to accumulate those points and then, just because some envious trolls targeted me, I lost the account. Community moderation is just a way for trolls to harass people.

It is true someone can report you just for not liking your opinion. But you can appeal, and if your answer (or question) did not break any rules it will get reinstated. There is a good thread on the Suggestions Board about how to appeal You will find it at

    http://suggestions.yahoo.com/detail/?prop=answers&...

Suspended accounts can be appealed the same way, if you got no notice about it.

Lots of spam, abuse, insults, racist remarks, pornography and other bad things get removed. So it is working okay. People can get caught for chatting or not answering properly, if they don't really know the rules well. Others get reported for revenge, but those kinds of reports can be appealed. And appeals can be won.

I agree 100%. I keep getting "'violation notices" when people don't like my opinion. It isn't like I'm writing obscene or incorrect material, they just don't agree with what I'm saying. I petition all of them, but it is kind of ridiculous.
