Actually both God and dinosaurs are not in conflict with each other.
The ice age actually happened, AFTER God caused the dinosaurs to go extinct.
I will explain:
The information is hidden within Genesis 1.1-2
(1) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
(2) And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
According to Genesis 1.1:
When was the heaven created? In the beginning. When was the earth created? In the beginning. So if BOTH the heaven AND the earth were created in the beginning, they both were created simultaneously; which means that THE UNIVERSE AND THE EARTH ARE THE SAME AGE.
Now look closely at Genesis 1.1-2; although it seems like Genesis 1.2 happened immediately after Genesis 1.1, it did not; there was a period of time between the two verses; and it is within this period of time the dinosaurs were made extinct.
Just to give you a heads up:
The dinosaurs lived between Genesis 1.1 and Genesis 1.2, and were dead by the time of Genesis 1.2.
Genesis 1.1-2
(1) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
(2) And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
If you read Genesis 1.2 closely in context of Genesis 1.10 ("And God called the dry [land] Earth"):
"And the earth was without form, and void"
This means that land mass called "Earth" was completely under water and devoid of life or empty (in context of Genesis 1.9 "And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry [land] appear: and it was so"). The "3rd Rock from the sun" was an ocean planet.
"and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep"
This means that there was no light nor heat from the sun (the sun was there but it was dead because God turned it off - this is the cause of the ice age). Darkness being upon the face of the deep means that there was no atmosphere between the oceans' surface and outer space.
With no heat from the sun and an ocean planet without an atmosphere (like on the moon) sitting in outer space where the temperature was over 200 degrees below freezing...
the ocean planet was a ball of ice.
So what happened during the time between the creation of the Earth and it becoming a ball of ice sitting in the dead of space?
In Job 38, God said that the angels were witness to creation:
Job 38:4-11
"Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Or [who] shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, [as if] it had issued out of the womb? When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it, And brake up for it my decreed [place], and set bars and doors, And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?"
If you notice God said that water came out from the rock of the ocean floor:
"Or [who] shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, [as if] it had issued out of the womb?" (Like a pregnant woman's water bursting)."
So what happened during the time between the creation of the Earth and it becoming a ball of ice sitting in the dead of space?
For lack of time to include scripture references, I will answer the question in summary.
During the time of the dinosaurs, the sons of God walked the earth. These are the angels in the scriptures. Lucifer was the top angel, and he was give rule over the earth. Lucifer became proud because of his looks and he inverted. He conviced one third of the angelic population to join him in rebellion against God.
They lost.
God caused a separation between His holy angels and the fallen angels; and He took the earth from them. God caused the sun to go out, and the surrounding stars; and He flooded the earth. Causing extinction of the dinosaurs.

Genesis 1:24 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind"; and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
A dinosaur falls into the category of a "beast of the earth". For more specific information on dinosaurs and the Bible check out http://www.answersingenesis.org/Home/Area/faq/dino...

Dinosaurs and the Bible

The bible doesn't say anything about dinosaurs, but your average Christian Apologist would most likely use the following arguments.
"God made it that way to test your faith"
or
"Fossils are a trick from devil"
or
"God works in mysterious ways"

It doesn't. People had no knowledge of such things in those days, therefore dinosaurs were not included.
However talking snakes and talking donkeys were.

The Bible has mentioned dinosaurs.
They have another word for it, though.
It's in Job 40. God Bless.
